Draco981 they have two of them, so just like with wings, from longest tip of one back fan to the tip of other when they are spread on sides

@Draco981 interesting! their encyclopedia entry and teaser gif indicates that, but they defintely have two fins (which make up their "wing"span)
edit: maybe they can move their fans like elephant ears to disperse heat, so they can turn them towards each other to act as one fan while swimming under the sand?

Cool, thanks! This looks to me like there are two fins that can be folded alongside each other to aid with sand-swimming to me.
