Recalling the age before our bones began to creak, The lustrous jungles, The frigid ice floes, The heat-cracked floor near where fire turned liquid. Nervous, she closes her eyes to visualize the wild gardens of her home and drift in the sensory memories of her subject. Rain. She remains emersed in those memories as she recites her new poem from memory. [b]Entry Title:[/b] A Taste of Rain [b]Entry: [/b] [center]The scent of hinted rain Drapes like a comforting shawl And I yearn for a taste of it Fresh and cool, Quenching my thirst First, it builds… As the sky longs to cry in relief One drip at a time it begins A gentle patter, followed by a prolonged [i]hush[/i] [i]Sometimes[/i] it howls in a windy storm Dynamic and full of bravado Listen to the skies play their drums Percussion at its best, rumbling through And then…[i]oh then[/i], There’s the symphony at last When the sun joins in duet The rainbows arc, and the droplets sparkle Like a garden weathering drought, I ache for it all Yearning for that first drop The taste, the very essence of thirst-quenching life.[/center]
