HEAT A - ROUND 4 RESULTS

Today’s course winds its way through an area of the city that hasn't quite recovered from the big hurricane and requires navigating spooky abandoned buildings.

Team Chili uses Skydancer’s Confusing Dance. Storm enjoyed the dancing so much last time, she just kept on going. Once again the cloud of shadow magic seeps from the scroll's twirling and coalesces into a large cloud, this time descending on Team Eggplant who have to wait until it has dissipated before they can activate their scroll. Team Chili gains 8 spaces, Team Eggplant loses 8 spaces.

Team Berry uses Spiral’s Knotted Up. Taito twists and turns, forming his body into first a reef knot, then a double reef, a bowline and a half-hitch, even an Alpine butterfly, his favorite knot! It does the trick! Reams and reams of rope pour from the scroll, firing out at the leading boat and wrapping it securely, hampering Storm’s dance until the team can loosen and cut the knots free. Team Chili loses 8 spaces.

Team Apricot uses Veilspun’s Swarming Slowdown. Osthane releases a cloud of insects from their scroll upon unfurling. The swarm winds its way through several abandoned buildings, presumably looking for a nesting site, before descending on Team Eggplants boat and attempting to settle in there. The bugs are eventually swatted away, settling next on Team Berry's boat. The swarm seems more determined this time, initially resisting the team’s attempts at shooing them away, even beginning to make an angry buzzing sound! Upon passing through the remnants of a market structure with many trailing streamers, the swarm is brushed off. Team Eggplant loses 5 spaces. Team Berry loses 8 spaces.

Team Eggplant uses Mirror’s Pack Pride, gains 10 spaces. Emerging from the shroud of darkness which settled on them, Seastar wastes no time in unfurling their scroll and the team rapidly picks up their pace as their oars dip into the water rhythmically to the sound of the drumskin beat punctuated by mirror howls emanating from the scroll. Hurray! They are in the lead! Alongside three other boats…

Team Fennel uses Snapper’s Slow and Steady, gains 4 spaces. Their boat, despite the scroll’s name, describes a rapid path winding through multiple abandoned structures. They can hear the mirrors’ howls growing louder as they catch up with the leaders in a four way tie!

Team Dill uses Imperial’s Mighty Flight, gains 3 spaces. They began beside Team Fennel and as the boat grows wings and they soar above the hurricane damaged area they enjoy the bird’s eye perspective which reminds them somewhat of a flooded Sunbeam Ruins before descending again to finish the round beside Team Fennel again - in a four way tie for the lead!

Final Round Totals:

Team Apricot - 14 spaces
Team Berry - 3 spaces
Team Chili - 10 spaces
Team Dill - 18 spaces
Team Eggplant - 15 spaces
Team Fennel - 18 spaces

Current Standings

HEAT B - ROUND 4 RESULTS
Today’s course winds its way through an area of the city that hasn't quite recovered from the big hurricane and requires navigating spooky abandoned buildings.

Team Bells used Spiral’s Knotted Up. Sirena twists and turns, contorting her serpentine body into all sorts of interesting shapes and knots as she focuses on reading out the scroll. Magical lengths of rope pour from the parchment, swirling and looping their way like giant lassos towards the boat ahead, ensnaring it in loops of strong cabling that knot together wherever they cross. The targeted team must cut themselves free before they can unfurl their scroll. Team Diadem loses 8 spaces.

Team Diadem uses Mirror’s Pack Pride. As soon as they are cut free from their ensnarement, using talons, teeth and a strong sense of competition, Kyldathar wastes no time in slipping his scroll from its holder. An ancient chant begins to emanate from it and the mirror is soon intoning along with it like an ancient monk as the beat leads him into a powerful trance. This gives the abandoned ruins an extra spooky feel but to the crew’s relief no more unlucky events impede their progress and they gain 8 spaces.

Team Feather uses Fae’s Lucky Leap. Azolla’s element suits her breed’s spell and the boat is surrounded in the brightest golden sphere to have appeared in the race yet, and the boat does a quick leap over any ruins in its path, making a beeline for the finish and gaining a massive 14 spaces. The crowd shields its eyes and look at each other in amazement!

Team Amber uses Tundra’s Smells Familiar. Ursula once again sniffs out the hoards of Water dragons ahead and activates her scroll accordingly. HEAT C - ROUND 4 RESULTS
Today’s course winds its way through an area of the city that hasn't quite recovered from the big hurricane and requires navigating spooky abandoned buildings.

Team Ember, preparing for the inevitable, cast their Protect spell to ward off unwanted attention and focused on using their strength to row as fast as they could. Even if the other teams didn’t attack, this place looked like ANYTHING might jump out of ANYWHERE at ANY MOMENT, the extra protection felt comforting!

Team Candle used Obelisk’s Stone Skin. Roscoe unfurled his scroll, and no sooner had he begun to read than their craft picked up speed and began skipping across the water like a well tossed skipping stone. Unfortunately this made steering nigh impossible and was extremely nerve-wracking for all on board! Emerging on the other side of the ruined area, they collectively sighed in relief. The craft had successfully skipped over the smaller ruins and they only slightly grazed the sides of some larger remnant ruins, which crumbled even more and drifted away from the path of slowly expanding circles their skips left across the still waters. All without damaging the boat, which had as the scroll's name implied, grown a Stone coating! They gained 5 spaces.

Team Bones used Pearlcatcher’s Enlightened Soul. Sparrow whipped out her scroll, and gazed into her Pearl as the scroll caused complex mathematical calculations to whiz across its surface. The moment the calculations ceased and she cried out the answer to the heavens the craft boosted, gaining 8 spaces. Clever use of the oars trailing in the water behind the boat navigated them a smooth path between the obstructions the long gone hurricane had left in its wake.

Meanwhile, Team Fossil used Spiral’s Knotted Up. Zevran twisted and knotted himself as he concentrated on casting the scroll’s spell. Ropes unfurled from it, spiralling through the air, momentarily forming a perfect rendition of the Windsinger before landing on the craft ahead just as it cleared the ruins, ensnaring it in magical ropes which knotted together wherever they crossed. Team Bones lost 8 spaces before cutting themselves loose.

Team Agate used Guardian’s Strong Current, the water shimmering magically around them causing the floating ruins to part in front of them, giving the team a direct path to the finish. Far off on the shore a hatchling could be seen holding his mothers hand, jumping up and down pointing at the feat excitedly while the crowd alternated between watching his mother try to calm him, and following his gaze to see if what he was crying could be true. Team Agate gained 12 spaces.

Team Drum used Snapper’s Slow and Steady. Nami once again was called on and she responded appropriately, the scroll working off her name and element to form a small wave pushing them forwards through the path the preceding Guardian’s spell had made, gaining them 9 spaces.

Final Round Totals:

Team Agate - 21 spaces
Team Bones - 17 spaces
Team Candle - 18 spaces
Team Drum - 21 spaces
Team Ember - 13 spaces
Team Fossil - 12 spaces

Current Standings

1st - Team Bones - 65 spaces
2nd - Team Agate - 63 spaces

Good afternoon, crew! Considering that our lead is substantial, and it's VERY likely we'll be attacked... I actually vote for Handel's Quetzal flight? The worst that happens is we gain 6, then lose 8, that's a net loss of -2 but we already have a huge lead and our rolls this round are really nice. Best case scenario, everyone tries to support rather than attack, we have our sweet +6. I think it's a fair risk to take? (and even if we get overtaken by another team with a better support boost, we have Scallop and Ursula to easily wrestle our lead back with ease. we're ahead by such a considerable margin, so any lead they'd get would be manageable to outpace, i think.)

"Save the Protect for another day, eh Scallop? It's a boat strategy, let's see if it pays off!" Xin gives a thumbs up to show support, but he understands how difficult the decision is.

@Jeevas @Salixian

"Take your time to think," he asks Ursula and Handel. He does love it when the boat sails fast through the waters using the spells, but he will respect his teammates if they do disagree.

"I do not want to cause a split vote, so I will leave it to the three of you to decide."

[Been voting every Round, but I won't vote today unless I'm 100% sure where we're going, so please have one person vote at least!]

EDIT: you don't have to say which ability you picked, but would appreciate a "I voted." post. Eases my mind. xD
