HEAT B - ROUND 5 RESULTS

Team Diadem and Team Emerald, feeling in danger of being left far behind, both use Obelisk’s Stone Skin, their boats each growing a strong stone hull before skipping across the water’s surface leaving concentric ripples in their wake. They don’t pass any boats ahead of them but do manage to catch back up to the pack. Team Diadem gains 8 spaces, Team Emerald gains 6 spaces.

Team Feather uses Pearlcatcher’s Enlightened Soul, gains 8 spaces. Oasis concentrates all her mathematical skills on the equations on her scroll’s surface and calculating correctly, gives their boat a nice boost.

Team Coral uses Gaoler’s Icy Wind, gains 3 spaces. The quiet Carico steps up for the first time to perform for their team, and as they read from their scroll, a blast of icy wind launches from each trailing boat, sending each boat back slightly with its recoil effect. Carico’s craft enjoys the bounty of the combined gusts and gains some boat-lengths. Teams Bells, Diadem, and Emerald each lose 1 space.

Every team except Team F has at least one ATTACK dragon (no Veilspun/Ridgeback/Wildclaw/Bogsneak to worry about here). Skydancer (Team C/E): switches their Round Totals with the team that has the highest Round Total this round - a possibility Spiral (Team B/C/D): first place team loses 8 spaces unless that is this dragon's team, in which case the second place team loses 6 spaces. - uhoh Gaoler (Team C): steal one space from each team behind this one and add the spaces to the team's current Round Total. - N/A Dragon #1: Imperial - SUPPORT Mighty Flight - If this team is in the last half of teams in the race standings, it uses the same Round Total as the team with the highest Round Total for this round instead of whatever it had. Any Water dragons behind or equal to us? YES. T.L.D.R. Our options are the same from last round. Since we have the highest Round Total, we do have an extra threat from Teams with Skydancers, but at most, we'd lose 4 points. And Teams with Spirals may focus more on Support Abilities than Attack us. Our Round Total:

Support to gain spaces with Dragon #4, +6 spaces gained
Protect (keep in mind that is only works once and if we're still in first place next Round we won't have Protect. I feel like the penultimate one is so important.).
Being first continues to limit the abilities we can use. If we do get attacked and really fall behind, the Imperial ability could help us get back into the races? Depending on the Dice Roll though. We're doing a great job team! Only one more day left! (I apologize that my post isn't as nice looking as Magmish's, still learning the codes for FR)

Tip: Best used early in the race, especially if we’re in first and there are many dragons with ATTACK abilities.

Every team except Team F has at least one ATTACK dragon (no Veilspun/Ridgeback/Wildclaw/Bogsneak to worry about here).
Skydancer (Team C/E): switches their Round Totals with the team that has the highest Round Total this round - a possibility
Spiral (Team B/C/D): first place team loses 8 spaces unless that is this dragon's team, in which case the second place team loses 6 spaces. - uhoh
Gaoler (Team C): steal one space from each team behind this one and add the spaces to the team's current Round Total. - N/A

Dragon #1: Imperial - SUPPORT
Mighty Flight - If this team is in the last half of teams in the race standings, it uses the same Round Total as the team with the highest Round Total for this round instead of whatever it had.
Not applicable this Round.

Dragon #2 Wildclaw - ATTACK
(This ability Affects the other team)
Long Strike - The team ahead of this team in the race standings loses 2 spaces. The team ahead of that team loses 4 spaces. The team ahead of that team loses 8 spaces.
3/5 Teams in our Heat have a Water Dragon (Team B, D, F)
35448470.png
Dragon #3 Tundra - SUPPORT
Smells Familiar - If any dragon on any team ahead or equal in the race standings has the Water element, gain 10 spaces.

Any Water dragons ahead or equal to us? NO.
9377076.png
Dragon #4 Coatl - SUPPORT
Quetzal Flight- If any dragon on any team behind or equal in the race standings has the Water element, gain 6 spaces.

 • Support to gain spaces with Dragon #4, +6 spaces gained
 • Protect (keep in mind that is only works once and if we're still in first place next Round we won't have Protect.

Woohoo!! Still ahead of the game :)

Right now our race total lead is 10 points, and when it comes to the skydancer teams they have 14 and 15 points each vs our 18, which means a -4 or -3. They go first in the ability order, at least, so they don't get to steal our Quetzal Flight bonus, which evens that out to a +2 or +3.

The 2nd place is Team F, and 13 is the next prime number after 12, so them getting an absurd boost ahead with a pearlcatcher gambit is unlikely. However, they did roll a 2 and a 1... so a lucky leap would boost them by +9.

Before accounting for this round, our lead against them is by +10.

— In case of getting hit by confusing flight: 18+2 or +3 is 20 or 21. 12+9 is 21. If we get hit by a skydancer, we still preserve our +10 (or +9) lead against second place, since we'd have equal totals/no difference between rounds.

— In case of a getting hit by knotted up: 18-2 is 16. 16-21 is -5, meaning once the round resolves our healthy lead is halved to a far slimmer margin of +5. :(

— In case of protecting: 18-21 is -3. Our lead would shrink to only a +7.

Considering how potent the other teams' support boosts can be, I'm quite feeling up for a Protect. Our victory rides in keeping the margin between us and the others wide, considering the nature of some of the support abilities having a chance to add hugely to round totals if the RNG favors it.

{What an awesome surprise!!}

Xin resists the urge to give Handel a big hug, not wanting to spook the small Coatl {The second biggest of the group, weighing at 1015.93 kg} or knock him overboard. {Xin, buddy, you weigh 8197.06 kg. How big is this boat?!}

"It's perfect!! Thank you so much!" He is also grateful for Scallop's suggestions, pondering the merits of Protecting this Round. He grabs a parchment and starts writing things down.

"We're in a considerable lead, and we are rowing very well. The attacks go in order of resolution.
If Team C uses the Skydancer ability, they could risk getting it stolen by Team E.
However Team E also has some amazing Supports, one that seems to get them more spaces." He resisted the sudden urge to yell Soup Bowl. That was weird.

"If Team C uses the Skydancer, we don't have to worry about their Spiral attacking.

It's possible neither teams use Skydancer meaning we'll be Protected from a Spiral attack.

Team B will go first, but they also have some great supports that can give them a great boost. Team D as well, I see at least two...

We could have no Attacks coming our way due to how useful their Supports are. But it's entirely possible they want to Attack now and Protect in the last round."

He feels a sea shanty coming on, "We'd be allllright if we make it around the horn, and we'll all hang on behind."

The Fathomsearch Ambassador is happy to get a break, he watches Ursula perform her magic. Clapping every now and then at her little show. Such talent!

"And we'll roooll the oooold chariot dragon boat along!"

(Also, I am so sorry you went through the trouble of following my format. It's too late to say I've been just quoting my old posts and rewrote some parts. Eep. But you did amazing!! Really appreciate the effort!!

Wanted to provide some closer look at the other teams and what their options might be. I personally am leaning towards Protect, but it's tempting to extend our lead with the 6 spaces. Choices, choices.

Still got plenty of time to think about it, also if you haven't listened to some sea shanties I highly recommend it!)

Heat A. Team Chilli

Jade irritated by the noise of the other teams jubilation raised her head. Using all her energy, she threw a spell out after the noisy crews. Sighing she laid her head back down.

Storm and Ruse exchanged a glance. With a nod, they cradled Jades body with thier tails to warm her up.
