My workplace also does retirement parties with lots of food, and a bbq is totally on brand.
Really though, personally I headcanon the microfests as feasts at the center of town. Like the big town-wide cookouts they'd hold in the summer where I grew up. Dragons stop by and pick something up from the exalts' fundraiser on the way home from gathering the same way I wander off with a bucket of fried chicken I got from some volunteer firefighters.
