cautiously, you lean in and give the door a hesitant push, to no avail- it's stuck. but you've come this far, not to mention you already touched that nasty fungus with your first push, so you hold your breath and slam your whole body against it. fungi and mushrooms crack and fall off with a sickening crunch as the door swings open to reveal... even more mushrooms? yeah, you're really not surprised about that one. they're all growing in a ring around a larger and creepy looking truffle- for some unknown reason, you feel like these might be useful soon, so you grab as many as you can carry. as you turn to leave, you glance behind you one last time and realize the truffle has changed positions and gotten closer to you... is it following you? somehow? ... well, guess that's yours now too!

today is not the day where you will exhibit good judgment, you decide, preparing yourself as you reach out towards your reflection in the mirror. immediately, it grabs you with freezing, shadowy tendrils and pulls you straight through the door's surface into what appears to be... a chamber of sorts? the columns holding up the peaked ceiling are crumbling in ruin, and it's apparent that there isn't much time left before this entire place caves in. a dazzling blue dragon steps out from behind a pillar, carrying a staff on his back- ah, a mage. this must have been his doing, you realize. speaking in a deep yet melodious voice, he informs you that he's been trapped here quite a while, unable to leave on his own, and that he used his magic to draw you in for a slim chance at rescue before the ceiling collapses on him. you can't just leave him there, after all this... so you break the spell he's under by stepping back through the mirror and pulling him through. you weren't expecting to meet a new friend today- it seems like he's incredibly grateful, and politely requests to return with you and join your clan.

after a few long moments of contemplation, you sigh- curse your innate sense of curiosity!- and part the dangling bones far enough for you to duck and enter. inside, you find piles upon piles of bones making up what seems to be an abandoned hoard, as there's no signs of a clan having been here in a very long time. as you're pondering why they possibly could have left such an extensive collection, something moves behind one of the piles... you freeze, holding your breath, but exhale in relief as a ghostly little dog trots forward and approaches you. it wags its tail- or what you think is supposed to be its tail- as it drops something into your grasp: a crown fashioned entirely from, you guessed it, bones. thanks, little buddy! you reach down and attempt to pet its head, but your claws phase right through... oh well, can't say you didn't try. the dog seems to acknowledge your effort and wags its "tail" harder. you've admittedly grown quite fond of it, so after grabbing a few interesting-looking skulls from the old hoard you beckon it to follow you home, and it gladly obliges.
