A girl places herself for auction after a life of trauma caused by the magic she possess. When a very tall man with a wolf's skull for a head buys her, she learns that her curse is truly a gift. Throughout the show the two develop immensely, each realising something they didn't think they'd ever have.

All the people mentioning Made in Abyss here should check out Tegami Bachi/Letter Bee (which really is an anime no one's ever heard of). It has a lot in common with Made in Abyss, but a little less dark and a lot less violent. It also has absolutely beautiful animation, especially what they do with color/light.

i didn't think i'd see anyone mentioning Karas, but i second that, it was a good anime worth a watch!
i'm gonna add Death Parade, Mushishi, No.6, Zankyou no Terror and Tsuritama, because i haven't seen a lot of ppl talk about those.

Seconding the people mentioning Angels of Death and Death Parade. Also gonna add Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales and its spin-off Mononoke. I especially recommend Mononoke, it's amazing!

...Terror in Resonance
For me, it was an eleven episode rollercoaster full of terror, drama, and just SO many emotions. I was absolutely shaken by the end. The plot is great for 11 episodes, the OST is beautiful, and even the animation is amazing.

ik someone mentioned it earlier but golden kamuy!!! though, i highly suggest reading the manga instead. imo the anime didnt do much justice ;-; the manga goes into more depth and the pacing is a bit slower than the anime but its totally worth looking into! if youre into historical, drama filled, action packed manga (w/ of course comedy on the side) this manga is for you!
Though as for anime, i recommend Princess Jellyfish - it's about a group of otaku women, the mc being a jellyfish otaku, tryin to survive the real world. it's basically a romantic comedy as well since it involves the mc falling for a certain character wont spoil. the art style and op/ending songs are so good too~

Idk if this counts, but no one talks about the Kirby anime and that saddens me.
For as simple as the premise is, there are so many episodes. It's more silly than serious, and takes that to its full advantage. Dedede is always great and his antics are always a pleasure to see. And of course Kirby is just as hungry and adorable as ever.
My personal favorite episode is Cartoon Buffoon, it's just straight up funny. But honestly any episode is a good starting point.
