This topic has been discussed before - a lot! - but I wondered if anyone suggested allowing a player who is holding a dragon with unnamed and exalted offspring the ability to change the name? This would only impact that list and would let you - 1) get rid of crazy names that just don't fit your list 2) remove the problem of unnamed offspring and 3) maintain whatever pattern the dragon owner might have in the names of offspring of that dragon. 4)Give this same control to a new owner if the dragon has been purchased with a long list of offspring already existing.

No support. If you sold the offspring of a dragon you own and someone exalted it unnamed, then you have zero right to name it yourself even if you own the parent. The only way I support renaming exalted dragons is if you yourself were the exalter, since all exalted dragons are tied to the exalters account and not the breeders.

This would not only affect you, this would affect the person who exalted the dragon.
They may have offspring with that dragon as a parent. They may reference the dragon in their lore with a link to the exalted page.
Also, what about if two people own the parents? who gets to decide what name the exalted dragon has. What if the new name is something the other person detests?
I could also see a case for 'spite naming' where someone has a grudge against someone, and know they have a dragon with a lot of offspring, and they manage to get a hold of several of the parents and change the names.
Bottom line is, if you did not exalt the dragon, it is NOT your dragon to have any say in the name of said dragon. Dragons are still tied to the account that exalted them, and there could be numerous reasons why that dragon was exalted unnamed, and numerous places, not just on FR, where that dragon is referenced.
Also, if you buy a dragon with unnamed/badly named offspring, then you definitely should not have the right to change those offspring names because you didn't even breed them, and you bought the dragon knowing it had those names.

To go along with what everyone else said, I actually have a dragon with exalted Unnamed parents. I bought them and bred them with the purpose of keeping them Unnamed to fit the dragon's lore. All of their offspring except for her were Unnamed. I would be devastated if I visited her page only to see her parents were named when I was the one that purchased them (thus buying all rights to the dragon, including their name) and was the one that exalted them (they are still attached to my account). Someone without any say into what happened to my dragons came along and renamed them, effectively ruining the lore of the dragon I spent months breeding.
The only way I can ever support this suggestion was if it was just a cosmetic change. Such as, the names appeared change in the offspring list but aren't actually changed anywhere. Or even better, using the "hide offspring" button the staff are currently working on.

I'd rather this not happen. The Unnamed gentleman on my front page has Unnamed parents who are now exalted, but nonetheless it is important that they remain Unnamed to me (because I really wanted him to have Unnamed parents.) Apparently the parents' parents are exalted as well, but if they weren't, I'd have to worry about their owners undoing the names in favor of something else.

I'm with Jemadar on this. Like, I understand the intention but you SOLD the dragon to ANOTHER PLAYER, so your decision impacts them too. I mean, think about your own dragons. What if you bought a nice dragon with a name you didn't like, changed it, then the seller was like "ya know what I don't like this new name" *changes the name back*. I imagine it'd cause a lot of conflict.
Also, I'm gonna say what everyone else has probably said: If you sell a dragon you have to accept that you're giving up naming rights. If you can't accept it, name and / or exalt the dragon yourself.

Sorry, No support. I believe as others have said you have no rights to any dragon but the one in your lair. I know a lot of people are trying to find a compromise and it was worth a shot throwing this into the mix but I just don't see there being any way to resolve this that does not have an impact on multiple people.

Stuff will one day go here.
No support. When a dragon leaves your lair, you should be prepared for anything to happen to it. He could be left Unnamed and exalted. He could be left Unnamed in an abandoned lair. He could be renamed FartZeebraAhoy and exalted. He could be breed-changed, gene-changed, scatterscrolled, whatever. He could be given a bio saying that he's really a she and her parents (your dragons!) kicked her out of her lair for it. He could be given a bio that says he's a bloodthirsty killer. He could be given a bio saying that he really likes puking in the water supply.
If you're not prepared for these possibilities, then maybe selling dragons isn't for you.

It takes Twelve Years for one Imperial pair to produce a Primal-eyed offspring of a specific sex. Goal-based breeding is dead.
No support. what if those unnamed dragons are in other peoples lairs? Your suggestion would allow the owner of the parents to name someone else's dragons, which is a HUGE no-no. Once a dragon leaves your lair, you have no say in what happens to it.
If you don't want unnamed dragons in your offspring lists, name them before you sell them.
Everyone is responsible for their own offspring lists, and should never be allowed to name someone else's dragons.
Forgot to mention a lot of people exalt unnamed for lore- this would completely ruin their playstyle
