Okay so I have spent so long trying to figure out why I can't put an image onto a forum post. I've used both and [/img] bbcodes and it just doesn't work. All it shows when I preview the post is the link to whatever I'm trying to post. I have tried copying image addresses off google, email, and discord and none of them seem to work.
I really don't get what is the problem and I'd appreciate any help with trying to figure out how to get around this!

first the image needs to be hosted on a third party image hosting site (imgur, facebook, tumblr, or even twitter work).
second you need the image url address of the hosted image, make sure it ends in an image file extension (.png, .jpg).

Is the problem that what I had used was an invalid link? What I was trying to upload also didn't have an image file extension.

most likely the case. if it doesn't end in an image file extension, it's usually the web page url you're grabbing and not the actual image url.

cyberbreak what Lynell said was accurate, but that said, Discord should let you share images just fine. can you post the link you're trying to use? did you click the image in Discord first before trying Copy Image Address, or clicked Open Original and copied from the address bar?
also as a sidenote, sometimes the image extension gets buried in the middle of the URL, with extra stuff tacked on at the end. usually if this happens, backspacing everything up to the extension will let it work. (ex. this happens when you try Copy Image Address on a dragon's image instead of using the Share button.)
