It's so cool when RPGs have good stories, I've played a lot that have been super meh. My favorite stories recently have been Dragon Quest XI (the first two parts, at least) and Xenoblade Chronicles, though I'm not done with XC yet. DQ is also a Square Enix game, so they seem to be keeping up their story chops! :P
I'm hoping I don't run into any crappy people while playing, though I tend to not interact with people I don't already know, lol. That's probably why I haven't joined a FC yet, I get a little anxiety with people online. I want to start playing with more people when I get further in the story though and know more about the game!

She's so cool! I almost never do ranged classes in my RPGs, but I definitely want to try some in this game! Machinist sounds really cool to me, definitely gonna give that a shot once I get to Heavensward.
I definitely do need to remember to take breaks if I need them though, I tend to get super wrapped up in games and then get burnt out... I've been kind of forced to take breaks while playing this though, what with getting sick and having to stay with my parents' while my furnace is fixed. :P It keeps me interested and wanting to get back to it though!

I just started my Dragoon quests the other day! I can't wait to get some of the higher level skills, I love classes that let you jump around and be really mobile while fighting. That's one of my main gripes with the combat currently, dodging feels really clunky. I wish there was a Dark Souls-style dive roll option, or that strafing was faster!

? If you like RP try out daytime venues such as cafes & taverns! Nightclubs/casinos are more like 18+ chat rooms & not so much genuine roleplaying. I won't sugar coat it. There are some real weirdos around there so be careful! QuQ
? If you unlock triple triad in the Gold Saucer, bosses/monsters you kill in PVE can drop cards. Don't discard duplicates! You can actually turn in extra copies of your cards for a lil bit of MGP to the triad vendors.
? When buying items off the player market board hover over the item icon. If it says it has a 'shop selling price' that means that item can be bought off an NPC. Likely for far cheaper than what its being sold for on the board.
? Chat can get a bit spammy with all of the default messages or map shouts. You can toggle the little cog icon and customize your chat tabs so you see what you want and don't want.
? Speaking of spam... The player animations in group content can be pretty blinding aha. If you go into system < character config < character (upper tab) you will see the option to limit or hide your ally animations. Haven't gone blind yet thanks to these settings!

I started playing FFXIV in March!! My character is Aoede Labelle on Primal/Ultros, I main tank and mechanist if you ever want any help!
Aoede is a level 90 mechanist and a level 88 paladin, the other tank classes are a bit lower level, I'm currently working on her backstory but I think she's great!! If you ever need help with learning the rotation for a class, I recommend looking at guides on YouTube or something. Also, if it's your first time in a dungeon or trial and you're nervous about not knowing the mechanics feel free to mention it in the chat. I help run an FC so if you want to start one of your own I may be able to offer some advice on that too. Joining or making an FC has a ton of benefits, like increased EXP or reduced teleportation fees. it's also a good way to make friends!
My main piece of advice would be to have fun - the dungeons, story, and characters are all generally amazing, especially once you hit some of the later expansions. also the dark knight storyline is super good

Hello! I have several characters on three different servers. Though I'm still kind of taking long breaks due to drama two years ago that snowballed into a giant drama-filled mess that broke apart the original group that I used to play with for years. I thankfully found a new group, but have been plagued with harassment by the offending people, so I went through a few name changes over the past year.
My main is on Primal - Ultros, under the name Akane Mori (will be going through another name change soon). She used to be Mana Kaya but the harassment I received forced me to name change and I used to be on the Leviathan world. She's a Xaela Au Ra and is at end game. Though I have yet to finish the patches for Endwalker because I just haven't had the time and I miss running with a group. I mained RDM every since SB, but before that, I mained Dragoon.
I have two alts, Hraesvelgr Dragonsong (Au Ra Raen) on Aether - Faerie and Seraph Moon (Viera Veeno) on Dynamis - Seraph. Both are still in ARR, rip me.
I'm always up for having more friends on there, feel free to pm me if you'd like to friend me on any of my characters. ^^ Everyone's WoL looks so good too!

oh! it's amazing to see how wide of an audience FFXIV has captured for its fans to spread onto here hah. around a year ago I clocked in a solid 1300~ hours into a variety of characters on Faerie but got caught up in a burnout after finishing off Endwalker. I remember the people I met on there very fondly- and the story was a very emotionally charged experience for me and my best friend gahahah.
My main was a WHM au ra named Kapkan and pretty much stuck to the class through the entire story. If anyone else here was around for the release of Endwalker- that was also a memorable ordeal. maybe it wasn't fun at the time but I look back fondly on sitting in the queue with my friend and getting excited when one of us got in. I had a handful of alt characters simply for the fact that I enjoyed creating new characters and backstories- has to be one of my favourite character creators- but Kapkan was definitely my main and the one I clocked the most time on.
I haven't played in a very long time, but I hope the inspiration to get back into it will come sometime soon. I have yet to see a lot of the postgame content and I miss being a triple triad fiend.

Aw man, it sucks that you had to deal with drama like that. I've had that kind of thing happen too and it's the worst, especially when it ruins your enjoyment of a thing you really loved. I hope the people harassing you leave you alone!

Ohh, I love him! Those glams are so cool, I can't wait to get further in the game and get awesome outfits. I see he's wearing the maid outfit in the last one, I'm suuuuper tempted to get it for Eijinn~ There's just something about a big ol' dragon boy in a maid dress that's just excellent. :P I also didn't really know you could actually get married, I love that. Definitely gonna have to show that to my partner! :D

thanks so much! a lot of it is healer garb if I remember correctly- but the maid dress is. definitely not. lol. it wasn't until a more recent update where you could have male characters wear the maid dresses. I was ecstatic when they added it :P
but also yes marriage!! it's called the ceremony of eternal bonding and it's a cute little addition with its own questline you do with someone. anyone can do it for free but there's some perks for you and your guests if you decide to pay for a different plan hahah. you get to plan the time and date for it, invite guests with item invitations and for some I've been to folks even write vows for each other- super sweet. I'd definitely recommend it as a fun thing for you & your partner to look into if you're interested!

@Euasteros Yeah, it was a complete mess and it really puts you off from the game. All this drama over a video game, I swear. Sad to say the person who started the drama was one of my former friends and they dragged a lot of people into it who didn't need to be involved. Oh well, it's over with now. I'm trying to get back into the game, but I've been busy so much recently. Here's a photo of my Xaela lady, who I adore so much. <3 I don't have anything recent since I only go on to check to see if there are any houses available if there are since I'm still looking at getting a house after I had to relinquish my other one before switching from Levi to Ultros.

@gayloki Omg, I adore you and your friend's Warriors of Light! They look so adorable together and that maid outfit, chef's kiss! I'm kinda biased on the Au Ra race in general, lol. I remember when I first started I was forced to choose a Miqo'te because I was on the 7-day free trial and HW was out and I really wanted to play an Au Ra. Several days in, I bought up to HW and changed into my dragon lady you see now. Haven't looked back!

Euasteros Yeah, it was a complete mess and it really puts you off from the game. All this drama over a video game, I swear. Sad to say the person who started the drama was one of my former friends and they dragged a lot of people into it who didn't need to be involved. Oh well, it's over with now. I'm trying to get back into the game, but I've been busy so much recently.
