time for another tool! i made this one for funsies, but maybe someone can use it for planning purposes. essentially, generate potential hatchlings of dragons that dont exist! plan your breeding pairs or find the perfect mate for a dragon you have.

(please make a copy to use)
this tool doesnt scrape any data, it extracts gene and breed data from the scrying workshop links and uses a random number generator and breed/gene odds to generate potential offspring.

paste scrying workshop links/image links (both work!) of parents to check.

generates 5 random hatchlings at once! (use the checkbox on the main page to generate new results)

enter desired element for hatchlings

generate as hatchlings or adults

each result comes with its own scrying workshop link to preview

all modern and ancient breeds, will display warning if breed types dont match

gene and breed data references my own sheet that i keep updated, so it keeps up to date automatically

lists overall odds for the given pairing and generates a proper wrapping color range preview:

(im particularly proud of the range maker, when the color schemer went down the other day i needed it that exact moment so i quickly made my own spreadsheet version)
let me know if you encounter any problems or have suggestions!

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for!!
(Even though it seems you're not active it has helped. ^^)

I .. really like this. Input areas are highlighted. Easy to use. Thank you. I wish I had seen it sooner.

now updated with the aether expansion and added flameforger genes!

Ooh, an up-to-date hatchling generator, just what I need! Thank you for making/updating this!
Have you considered adding little preview pictures for the potential hatchlings in the sheet itself? I recall feeding the generated scry urls to the IMAGE function to do this in a personal sheet some years ago, although I could never get the eyes to work properly. It would be nice to get a quick visual overview of the results without needing to click through all the links.

Cerastium pinging myself for future reference.

cerastium im glad its useful! i just added everlux genes yesterday ^^
i did consider adding actual images, and would have loved to, but its no longer possible to directly generate images from a scry url! iirc they changed this a few years ago, to deal with people generating pictures offsite, which is probably not that great for server performance. if you copy an image url from the scrying workshop and check the url, youll notice that it has an "auth" string at the end, which is generated along with each picture, and without this, no image will be shown.
(i actually have another tool in progress, which generates a dragon preview from the id. but the dragon has to exist for this to work, so i just discarded the idea for this one)
i could maybe add color rules to the sheet, so the fields with color names in them show the correct color for a better idea of the result. would that help?
(im already using these color rules for the range display, so it wouldnt be too much work to expand them to more cells)

mechanical I checked my old sheet out of curiosity and it seems the way I did it still works (apparently I used the
https://flightrising.com/image_generators/100pxbabies2.php URLs instead of regular scry URLs). But since they changed the scrying workshop to prevent image generation offsite, that's probably just an oversight. So I suppose it would be a tad impolite to keep doing it that way :p oh well.
The colors being shown wouldn't hurt, but since genes have such a big effect with all the accents and stuff I'd have to look at the actual scries anyway so the sheet is just fine the way it is imo
