@MetalSpaghetti Nope! Minecraft silverfish are based off of the actual insects called Silverfish, which are referenced in the original post.

It's always so funny to me when people who have no idea that silverfish are actually real learn about that XD

@Gormanghaste they're wonderful!! I love them! Such horrible lovely little creatures!

And for everyone asking, yes, silverfish are real bugs! They're usually black or dark brown and eat different kinds of glue and sugars in your home, although they're opportunists and will eat just about anything.

I used to see them when I was younger all the time in the sink and the cupboards, and I thought nothing bad of them. Thought they were cute lil harmless things, and I probably picked them up at some point. I would do it again. As long as the insect cannot fly at/jump on/use my body as its new home, I’m not super scared of them.

They look kinda happy, but why do they look like blue centipedes?

But. Silverfish are just. Bad

I don't care how shiny they can be.

im kidding there kinda cute, saw one when i was sleeping pver at a friends house and couldn't sleep there at all from then on so when i got home i just crashed lol

I'd like them better if they didn't eat the books I have stashed at my folks place

Luckily I've never seen silverfish IRL, I think they're not native to the US, at least my part of it, but I remember reading about them in a book, having no clue what they were, then being traumatized by an internet search.
