She twitches and says in her hoarse, childlike voice,“Space.”
He shivers at the sound. “Where in space?”
She points upward at a distant, faint star, “That one. Home.”
He looks up too. “Why aren’t you there?”
Her whole body twitches. She frowns, her fans flat to her neck. Her eyes are full of pain but squinted in concentration. It seems as if she has to reach across that distant expanse of sky just to reach the memories.
“Darkness. Came and swallowed our stars. It ate the sky. It took our children. It ate our future. We coughed out our souls at the end onto the ground. Our planet shattered and...space.”
They sit in silence for a few moments, and then he says, “Vega, what is space like?”
She blinks slow and twitches, “Long. Cold. Lonely. Beautiful.”

In a distant time another world flourished far across the stars. Its denizens were intelligent and kind. They nurtured large families and built great cities. The light from their monuments of progress shone brightly in the night. In time it became a beacon for something terrible.
Darkness, hungry and inescapable, came to swallow them whole. It sucked the life from their planet. It devoured their children and crumbled their cities. They had no gods, no great power to protect themselves from the shade. They coughed their souls out onto the ground as the planet shattered.
They come to Sorneith in meteors, debris left over from their destroyed world. Like worms they crawl out of the rocks with only one goal in mind: find a suitable host. Find a body, take it, survive.
They inhabit the bodies of downed fae. They take over their skin and walk around as if they were you fallen brethren, but they're not. They're off, strange, unsettling. Their colours are muted with death, their skeletons reflect against their scales. They move strangely. They twitch as they walk and can't speak with their host's body like living fae can.They smell musty and old, like books rotting from time. Sometimes they will sit outside at night and silently watch the constellations for hours, looking for a star that is no longer there. If asked they will point and tell you which one was home, but it's only the ghost of light from a star long extinguished. They watch it, silently, unblinking, twitching. Always twitching.
The stars shine through their scales. They glitter and sparkle but can't stay alive on their own. They feed off of the energy of your lair. They breathe in the strength of your strongest, feed on the life that flows through your home. A starbone fae cannot make energy of its own and so it feeds on the energy other dragons create. A starbone cannot survive without a clan. To be rejected upon reanimation means certain second death.
They cannot survive without a clan to protect. In exchange for life they defend with theirs. They watch over your hatchlings, knowing in their bones that children are the future, even though they cannot remember their own. They keep close eyes on your elders, knowing that they will give another starbone new life someday. Sometimes they keep an uncomfortably close watch. Waiting. Anticipating. An unliving omen that the end is near.

Just filled out the google form- got a pair that could produce but not sure how high the chances are. The prim is also probably going to be dark, maybe once I get a proper hatchling I’ll look for something in the red zone
