Honestly same, guides do some help but it's only a matter of time before my brain trips up. The videos don't do anything at all besides leave me blankly staring.

Tidal trouble, Runes of Arcanist, anything else I just take off at otherwordly speed. G&G? Apparently I just don't bend well with it. Honestly Paladingineer's was the one to get through my shoddy brain enough to almost win, then I did something and was left losing my sanity.

Then again I never needed a guide to get down to two tiles left I just wanted a way to get rid of those two tiles.

Maybe I'm just not a guide person.

I love coffee. I love it oh so dearly. The caffeinated joy that brings me to waddle my penguin legs to freedom and join my fellow short brethren. One goal upon all our minds as a collective hive of couch potatoes: feed, sleep, feed. Yet I dared to defect, and ventured to the vast lands to sip the nectar of holiness. The frappuccino size grande. I fell many great beasts; titans of giraffe leggeths, shopping carts of short person annihilation, and crowds of tiny human destruction. I have conquered them all.
I do G&G, and max out my streak in about 20 minutes. I do the Hard Mode, and I followed this video to learn the pattern: https://youtu.be/op9NPoRz18g?t=229 Picture Guide: 1) I work from Top to bottom, left to right for each row. I always go with shadow, because I like purple. 2) I click the hex on the SE side of the hex I want to change to shadow. 3) I follow this pattern for the top half of the board. The green dots are the hexes that were changed to shadow, but we only want to focus on the hexes in the row above of where we clicked. Ignore the hexes to the sides and below of where you click. 4) Once I get to the middle row, work from the left side to the right side. If the last hex is the wrong color, then re-click the whole middle row, starting on the left and clicking every hex, until you click the last, right-most hex. 5) now work the next row down, and you should have that problem hex in the middle row be fixed. 6) Now the next row. Work from left to right, and do not worry about this hex if it is the wrong color, we will fix it later. 7) Work the next row: OK, now we have a few outcomes with this bottom half of hexes. One is this: Which is the easy one. We will click the top 2nd hex, and re-work our way down the puzzle (left to right for each row), just like when we first started. Your outcome should end like this: And clicking two hexes, will end with this: The second outcome will be this: Again, We will click the top 2nd hex, and re-work our way down the puzzle (left to right for each row), just like when we first started. But this time, you will get this pattern near the bottom instead: Click the two hexes with the red dots, and you will get this: See the bottom hex? See it's the 3rd one? Go up to the 3rd row, and click every hex, starting with the left one. (just like we did for the middle row before). Now, work from left to right, and change those colors! Your bottom 2 rows should become this: Just click the red dots, and you are done! Once you follow the guide a few times, you will notice a pattern of which hexes to click, and you will get fast enough to do each puzzle in under 30 seconds.
OP, I was like you! Then I watched one of the videos and it helped me immensely. You only have to memorize a few patterns for Hard and once you get it, it's super quick and easy.

Try one of the guides before you give up!

Hard is a lot easier to muscle memory than very hard, so I recommend doing it on that diffuclty as well! Take it slowly, since it will be awhile until you are used to it. However, if you're still struggling, it's fine to do other things, since G&G is not for everyone.

It is a lot quicker and easier to play on mobile, so I reccomend having a guide on a monitor and then playing G&G on your phone. Easier to reference again.

Easy and medium are very much not. Hard is the only way to go, for me.

I think the problem here is that people think they need to understand how G&G works, and therefore they think you need to be really smart in order to learn how to play it. The truth on both counts is, you don't. The trick to G&G is not to understand G&G. I even wrote in my guide:
...while I know there must be a mathematical reason why they work, they still look like witchcraft to me. Thankfully, understanding why they work is not prerequisite to making use of them.
The trick is just memorize the strategy that results in victory, and mindlessly perform it. You don't need to - and probably won't ever - understand why it works. Seriously, there's nothing I see on this site that riles me up more than people just giving up at G&G not because they're not interested but because they think they're "too dumb" or otherwise "incapable" of learning G&G. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IS FULLY CAPABLE OF LEARNING THIS. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IS SMART ENOUGH. Think you're an exception? Message me. I'll prove you wrong.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IS FULLY CAPABLE OF LEARNING THIS.
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IS SMART ENOUGH.

Think you're an exception?

I watched a video guide on youtube. Using guides with visuals is the only way I ever learn things right, lol.

OMG @Xeyla

I followed the guide you did last night and am starting to actually get it.

Suddenly the comments of G&G starting to feel like a chore/drag make sense!

I got my first Lucky Streak just doing G&G today.
