Sandsurges are my #1 fav dragon breed and I’ve been itching to do some more projects after I finished a couple previous ones, so i’m hoping this thread will provide me with some inspiration! I don’t care if it’s a pure g1 sandsurge or a modern g1 dragon that was breed changed, if it’s a sandsurge and a g1 i’d love to look at it either way! ^^

Verity
First XXY G1 i’ve ever owned! Normally I don’t pay more than 1.5kG for any dragon but because it was an XXY of one of my favorite colors + the person i bought it from was an absolute gem, I gave in real quick lmao. Also Harlequin/Jester combo my beloved <3
Absinthe
Probably one of the most challenging G1s I’ve had to work with but once I came up with this scry it was go time lol. A very very close XYX G1 and the only dragon in my lair to have peacock. As a bonus that I just found out while writing this, their birthday is the same day that the Persona 3 protagonist finishes their journey :’>
Relic
Probably my 2nd most challenging scry to work with, mainly because I was really indecisive when it came to the scrys I had and whether I wanted her in the first place (at the time she was a G1 Noct). Really glad I gave in and decided to nab her from the AH (and for only 10g that was beyond a steal), especially since I’m trying to experiment with adding more earthy/natural dragons in my lair. Even though the blues don’t match 1:1 I still dig how she looks regardless ^^
Joy
Definitely one of the most self-indulgent G1s that I was incredibly lucky to have bought years and years ago (hard to believe she’s an oldie now). I adored how vibrant and contrasty her colors are (plus blue is my fav color), and while I originally wanted to make her into a wildclaw or an aberration (my 2nd fav dragon breed, tied with imperials), as soon as the sandsurge breed came out the sheer speed at which I changed plans was incredible lmao.
Zero
Still a work in progress (missing the augment gene), but already like 75% complete![Ignore the last sentence, just finished him the same day I made this post lol] Probably the only G1 i’ve bought using treasure, and just like Joy was in incredibly self-indulgent project because cyan is like my #1 fav color lol. Also was incredibly lucky to get a cyan G1 that didn’t have a horrific unmatchy/unworkable tert color (blows up moss, swamp, and crocodile colors with my mind). Name and broadcast message are also a reference to Persona 3 (or maybe P4 im not 100% sure) when Igor describes the protagonist/their unique power.
Dredge
Bought this one on the same day I bought odyssey, both were less than 160kT which was an absolute bargain! Was definitely (and still am lol) on a warm/earthy color binge to contrast most of my other dragons, and she is also the only dragon in my lair to have the piebald primary. Her name and future lore is a reference to the indie fishing horror game that goes by the same name (which you should totally buy if your into that genre of game, I had a blast playing it!).

So. Many. Projects! My wallet may be non existent but I do have some lovely new G1 Surges, some of which were inspired by the lovely commenters on this thread! Since these are all still WIPs, what is being shown below is only their scrys.
Cascade
Even though I'd say I got very lucky with all of the dragons shown here, I think Cascade takes the cake here. Wanted to do something themed around water and I thought the ice kumo would look great as that kind of sea foam/mist/haze you see at the end of a waterfall (also ice kumo just looks stunning all the time lol). Only G1 with these colors and an incredibly self-indulgent project. If blue color combo dragons have 1 fan it's gonna be me lmao.
Torrent
Not as water themed as her sister Cascade but still very much a self-indulgent project and the only G1 with these colors. Never realized how pretty cobalt harlequin was until working on these two beauties.
Banshee
An opportunity I couldn't pass up when I saw her on the AH, storm harlequin is just *chef's kiss* easily one of my fav harlequin colors out there. Bonus points for once again not having a unmatchy tert color. The wings I had a rough time trying to scry but I ended up just settling with spire. Might change it when they do a sandsurge gene expansion thingy.
Munin
Stumbled upon this beauty for 200g on the AH and knew I couldn't pass her up. I absolutely love Mist and the fact that its accent colors are mostly in that cyan/robin range made everything fall into place. Had a bunch of other scrys before deciding on this one, I'm not one to use sailfish a lot but on Munin it matches with the Cyan tert way too well to not use it.
Requiem
Inspired by some of the wonderful commenters here, Requiem is what started my descent into rust sailfish madness lol. Still torn between whether to stick with blend or go with morph but that's a future me problem lol. Got really lucky to run into this guy for dirt cheap and find out that it also shares my b-day!
Epitaph
Similar to Requiem, ran into this guy for dirt cheap and never looked back lmao. Torn between morph and weaver but that is once again a future me problem.
Draugr
Part 3 of my descent into rust sailfish madness. I'm thrilled with the rust and cantaloupe colors but the black secondary is absolutely throwing hands rn (seriously the white/purple accents are just killing me). By far one of the most challenging scrys I've had to work with but momma didn't raise a quitter lmao.
