i'm currently in arizona visiting my long-distance partner (and i have reduced from my 20s to a stupid teen in love) and would like to bring up the obvious: saguaros! picked teddy here because while he's named for the teddy bear cholla, he's meant to represent pretty much any cactus.

would also like to second the sandsurge longhorn as someone who lived in texas for a while!

also going to throw my lot in for my home state of oregon:

my best bigfoot. i considered a lot of things, including the humongous fungus and just...evergreen trees in general, but nothing clicked like bigfoot did.

edit: WAIT WAIT HOLD UP

THE HUMONGOUS FUNGUS. it's a fungus colony that, underground, reaches over two-thousand ACRES, is estimated to be thousands, THOUSANDS of years old, and i like to think of it as the closest oregon has to a benign eldritch abomination. just some ancient, ancient terrifying being. Ok so first, I just ent with something that felt like it could be both desert-y, but also mountainous. And I think it just matched really nicely with the tarnish/peacock combo. And despite what some think, Nevada isn't all desert. We're actually one of the most mountainous states in the USA. Looking it up, we have 319 mountain ranges :) I actually need this dragon now though.. I shouldn't have done this They're all exalted Dx Next, I leaned heavily into Nevada's "Silver State" name Silver Met/Silver Alloy/Gold Veined We're known as "The Silver State," as that's what was mined here for a long time. But, did you know that Nevada is one of the largest producers of gold in the world? Pretty impressive imo. And lastly, because I couldn't leave out the biggest tourist spot in Nevada. I've never been myself, but we all know Vegas has a lot of lights.

Proud Minnesnowtan here! Perhaps the things we're most famous for are snow, lakes, sugar beets and of course strong Scandinavian heritage. "Land of sky-tinted waters" is an approximate translation of the name, so here's a lake themed dragon at early winter when the snow starts falling. Tundra for obvious cold resistance, chrysocolla to show scrubby plants hanging in there at the very end of the growing season, sky foam for nice ripply waters, and white opal for the random snow banks that stick around in the shady spots for the first snows of the season.
