Matthias was one of the company's airship pilots. They were secretly in a relationship, and Spectre used her influence to get Matthias a promotion and a hefty raise. Spectre eventually got bored of Matthias and decided to dump him. Matthias took it hard and attempted to blackmail Spectre into sticking with him, saying that if she left him, he'd publicly reveal their relationship and a smattering of embarrassing personal details about her. In response, Spectre doctored company files to make it seem like Matthias had been embezzling company funds. Then [i]she[/i] blackmailed [i]him[/i] into resigning and getting the hell out of her life so the company wouldn't press criminal charges against him. rest in pieces Matthias He hasn't been able to get another job in the field (lack of references will do that), so he's had to settle for a series of crappy part-time jobs. Currently he's working night shift at a gas station, and is also a janitor at a local wet market. (Matthias is entirely to blame for their children's names. He had custody by default, because the clutch of eggs was at his home when Spectre cut off contact. He filled out the birth certificates in a fit of pique and, well, you see how it is.)
