In her lore she is sub species of Skydancers called SeaDancers - her feathers have adapted so they are coated in a thin layer of fat covered by skin. They can shed like regular feathers, but they also cut water better and have insulated heat and a fin-like texture.
Basically, very good at swimming! <3
