The Shaded

The Shaded is a sort of experimental subspecies I wanted to make. I think subspecies are fun but they're a bit formulate so I decided to do something like this. The Shaded is going to be a more free form subspecies, there's still going to be rules but it won't be a ridged system.

Lore

It all started during the third age when the deities made dragonkind to fend off the shade. Their plans seemed to have worked perfectly, they've protected the planet from shade from the third age to modern times, longer than any previous records. However its fatal flaw has only now revealed itself, in the form of The Shaded.

In it's early days those of which who were Shaded wouldn't have ever known. The first who carried the shade still had their minds, they'd only been touched by shade in the low moments of their life. The Shaded only came after generations have passed, it was a long plan but one that would pay off.

The Shaded are characterized as being almost dragon, or originally dragon that'd been transformed into a near identical replica. Their strength and magic capabilities are unlike anything found in normal dragons. They're stronger, more chaotic, and ultimately more free in their powers. While they still retain characteristics of their original flight a shaded dragon is not locked to just one flight. In fact a shaded dragon is more likely to have two or more flight alignments, although it's near impossible to see one with more than three alignments at a single time. Still a shaded dragon can shift between flights but usually stick to the first ones it obtains.

A shaded's personality is also warped from their original self, often it's a more extreme version of who they previously were. It's not unheard of a shaded's personality completely changing after their transformation however. Dragons would think of a shaded as lacking emotions or empathy but the truth of the matter is that the shaded were designed to resent dragonkind after rejecting the shade from the planet.

In any case, the main goal of a shaded is to cause havoc on dragonkind and ultimately to wipe them out until there's only shaded dragons left. An unshaded dragon can become a shaded but it's not easy, they have to reject dragonkind utterly and completely and then they must be transformed in order to suit the shade. This is not common for obvious reasons but a shaded dragon should seek the opportunity. If it doesn't then it might be a sign that the shaded dragon can be reformed. This only happens when the shaded is accepted into dragonkind and has had the shade expelled from them. The whole of shaded dragons is an incredibly unstable battle between the shade and dragonkind and only time will tell which side will win.

(maybe ill have a banner which says something like "which side are you on? the shaded or dragonkind?" idk)

They have three genes which is true for all shaded. Their main defining feature is their swirl, multigaze, dark sclera, shining, bright, or pastel eyes. Scene Shaded: These shaded are an incredibly vibrant variant of shaded. All their colors are clearly distinct from each other. They're more likely to have bright eyes. (no xxx scenes or anything that isnt obviously xyz) Elemental Shaded: These shaded only use their original flight, they dedicate themself to making themself the strongest in their flight and often take the form of that element. They always have primal, dark sclera, glowing eyes. True Shaded: These shaded are the darkest forms and are practically impossible to reform. They are more likely to have just one defining color. They always have primal eyes. Reformed Shaded: These dragons aren't shaded anymore, they still retain some of their shaded features however. They often have dark sclera or pastel eyes. Spirit Shaded: These shaded are resurrected shades that died in the first age. They have soft colors and pastels, pink, blue, white, and purple are the most common colors. They almost always have glowtail or some other gene that shows their ghost like nature. They often have innocent, goat, pastel, or swirl eyes. In lore they often wear a lot of jewelry/fancy clothes but for the sake of everyone's wallet I won't make this a requirement, more like a suggestion I guess. Whisper Shaded: These shaded are entirely black and white, they're much quieter and less volatile than regular shaded. They can have any kind of eye except for bright, they're also more likely to have pastel eyes. They often have ice, light and shadow flight. Royal Shaded: These shades fall into a very specific color range. They can have the colors platinum, silver, obsidian, amethyst, royal, sapphire, lapis, jade, emerald, peridot, goldenrod, amber, gold, metals, bronze, copper, ruby, wine, rose, and pearl. They often have very expensive genes such as petals, starmap, butterfly, constellation, filigree, glowtail, koi, opal, among others. They can have any eye type besides common. False Royal Shaded: The shades seem to imitate the royal shades. They have a much wider color range and gene pool. They also appear to be able to have any eye type besides common. Statue Shaded: These shades seem to have come from the newest breed of dragons, the Obelisks. Their status as of now seems very chaotic, they seem to have the ability to assume the role of any previous shade while appearing to be a regular dragon to anyone who sees them. They can have any eye type regardless of its secondary shade variant. Torn Shaded: These shades are an interesting variant of shades, they're most similar to the standard shaded with some key differences. They're much stronger than most shades (except for true shades) and most of their strength comes from their psychical abilities. They also seem to be able to survive almost any attack, they actually thrive from their injuries. There only form of magic, as it seems, comes as the ability to levitate. As they fight it's not uncommon to lose an arm, leg, or even a head, they keep these limbs even if they have to levitate them, as a result they're much more creepy looking than most shaded. They often have genes that make them look torn apart or stitched back together. Genes like flaunt, flare, stitched, patchwork, and veined are recommended. They also often appear to be blue or red, although they aren't limited to these two colors. They often have multigaze eyes. Zebra Shaded: These shaded have adapted a specific pattern over time, that being of stripes and the like. This is odd since shades often have spiral patterns. They're often white and black, however they can also have a tertiary color. They more often have goat eyes. These are viable genes, I may have missed a gene or two that could also work. Falcon, jupiter, lionfish, pinstripe, ribbon, ripple, savannah, tapir, tiger, vipera. Current, eel, noxtide, peregrine, safari, saturn, striation, stripes, trail. Contour, ghost, okapi, thylacine, veined. Nebula Shaded: These shaded typically stay in the sky and aren't as confrontational as other shades but they will occasionally take fun in driving dragons mad. They have shifting forms that take after the stars and other celestial bodies. They're often brightly colored or at least partially bright, although it seems that completely dark colored nebula shades like to lurk in the shadows and hide their presence until the last second. Their eyes aren't fixed and typically reflect their dominate magic, for instance if a light nebula shaded has multi-gaze they may form their magic around blinding their opponent. ----- Examples- Standard Shaded: Scene Shaded: Elemental Shaded: True Shaded: Reformed Shaded (Scene): Spirit Shaded: Whisper Shaded: Royal Shaded: Statue/False Royal Shaded: Torn Shaded: Zebra Shaded: Nebula Shaded:
