Spearmint has a small herb garden on top of a snowy mountain. He uses the herbs he grows to make mints and herbal lozenges for medicinal use and for confectionery companies. He and his apprentice, Wintergreen, live and work alone on this mountain, which is how Spearmint likes it. He doesn’t really get on with other people. They tend to find him cold and distant. Spearmint has little use for sentimental feelings and emotional connections, finding them annoying and unnecessary. He’s never needed any company but his own. He is forced to share the same space as his apprentice for the sake of having someone to pass his knowledge of herbs to, but he barely tolerates him and doesn’t show him any warmth or kindness. He barely even interacts with him unless it’s to help him or call him useless when he gets something wrong. Spearmint just wants to get his apprentice to his level and then get him out of his house as soon as possible, so he can go back to being alone.

Tundra is an ice farmer who grows squash and pumpkins in the frozen tundra. Or at least, she hopes to be able to grow them, some day… The problem is that she chose to set her farm up in the inhospitable Fortress of Ends, where nothing grows. She wanted to be the first dragon to bring plants to the Fortress, but it isn’t going well. Her fields are barren and keep getting damaged by the cold and winds. She’s been there for years, desperately ploughing fields and planting seeds in the hope that something will grow eventually, but nothing does. She won’t give up, but it’s starting to get to her. She keeps doing the same things over and over, expending a lot of effort, but for no reward. The repetition, the constant stress, the frustration, the disappointment, the loneliness, it’s all taking its toll on her sanity, making her a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

Mulberry owns a massive vineyard and orchard where she grows fruit to make wine and jam, which she then sells at the local market. She’s proud to be a small independent producer and would like to keep it that way. Unfortunately for her, several big companies have their eye on her and her products, wanting to buy her out so they can sell her products in their stores. She’s turned down every offer and bluntly told them to get lost, so now they’re trying dirtier tactics, like trying to steal her recipes, sabotaging her farm and buying up all the land around her to intimidate her into selling. She’s been fending off these attacks and intimidation attempts for months and it’s starting to affect the quality and quantity of her products, much to her dismay. She’s starting to lose her will to fight, the constant abuse and stress is getting to her, but she won’t give up her dream, even if it kills her.
