Not all of the world's diseases are wrought by the Plaguebringer.
Goldlust is an affliction that has long puzzled the scholars and healers of Sornieth. All dragons have a tendency to covet, and to hoard; this is the way of things. But very rarely, these instincts spiral out of control. Dragons suffering from goldlust become increasingly aggressive and single-minded, hell-bent on expanding their collections, attacking even friends or family whom they perceive as threatening their hoard. As the disease progresses, afflicted dragons are less and less driven by rational thought, their every waking moment consumed with the need to own more.
It is unclear whether it is a malady of mind or magic. In some cases, it appears as an isolated incident, affecting just an individual; other times, it has been rumoured to infect entire clans. There is no known cure.
Many clans, when one of their own is infected, will put that dragon down for the safety of the whole. Those who avoid such a fate often retreat to a life of solitude, ensconced in their lairs with their precious hoards. Trouble comes when these loners seek to expand their collections, wreaking havoc on nearby settlements or unwary travellers.

Though many are grimly fascinated by the inscrutable disease, the associated dangers – from the risk of infection to the peril of the feral afflicted – mean that few have actually studied it. One of the leading scholars in the field is Bhaskara, who keeps thorough records of all cases he encounters, and has devoted his life to discovering its cause, if not its cure.

Rules and Registration
In order to be registered as one of the afflicted, there are certain criteria that your dragon has to meet! Please remember that, as of now, there is no known cure for goldlust! This may change as my lore progresses.

Criteria

afflicted dragons will be, to some degree, feral! while this will change depending on how far along the disease has progressed, all dragons suffering from goldlust will experience episodes when their rational thought is entirely subsumed to their need to grow and protect their hoard

these dragons are dangerous. however sweet and kind they are before they develop goldlust, not even loved ones will be safe from their ire if they perceive their hoard to be threatened

any item can be an afflicted dragon's obsession of choice, not just gold! silver, feathers, swords, finely crafted sculptures with one eye missing – anything can be a dragon's hoard

there are no limitations with regard to breed, genes, gender and flight! all dergs are susceptible to goldlust
