Fire Legacy: Gen 7 Maleko and Leimomi had three eggs, and every one of them hatched a ripple / peregrine / basic tundra. We did get the heir's tertiary color out of the yellow/greens and into the red ranges, so that's a plus. It would look great if the gene had only come through. The spares also have good fire and smoke tert colors, so there's that for what it's worth. After the first two legacies, I have to admit I might be a smidge spoiled; I'm a little frustrated that I haven't been able to snag either a tertiary or a breed upgrade here. In the continuing search for useful color and gene combinations, I again went aside from ridgebacks; this time, the best mate available turned out to be a year-old spiral. She already has a bunch of named offspring too, but that doesn't bother me. She was surprisingly cheap and goes well with the heir, that's the important thing. I'll be keeping the name she came with, which is Iskra. She may bring us back into the ash-colored primaries, but that's fine; if not, she may bring the tertiaries into the neutral ranges instead, which would also be fine. Oh, and posssible upgrade to treasure genes (haha, in my dreams, right). Will she get a third family to console her in her old age? The new owner gave her a user-made accent, so apparently she can still expect some time in the clans!

Nature Legacy: Generation 9 Mangrove and Vibernum hatched three eggs, and I am SO pleased with their offspring! Better yet, the RNG actually decided to give me the highest-scoring one of the lot for my heir! He got a breed upgrade and a tertiary gene! Meet Buckthorne: The spares were pretty nice too. Iris got the breed upgrade, and her cinnamon tertiary color should mesh pretty well with the orangey tint to her umber primary. She hatched out with a basic tertiary, so I'm interested to see what the new owner does with that. Sedum, meanwhile, got the underbelly, so that's two triple-gened offspring this generation! (Finally finally FINALLY. Ahem.) Basically the spares each got one upgrade and the heir got both. Iris sold pretty fast for having a basic gene, so that was exciting too. Really, it's just been a great generation for the nature legacy! I couldn't find a good wildclaw or coatl tree dragon (what's with that?) so I went imperial for Buckthorne's mate. I hope the okapi sticks; it's not a points upgrade, but I like it better on most tree dragons than underbelly. Fire Legacy: Gen 8 Pauahi and Iskra laid a three-egg nest. After waiting seemingly forever for lair space to open up, I finally got to hatch the new heiress. We're back to the ashy-looking ripple with a silver primary, and while the heiress herself is still a tundra, she did pick up a tertiary! Blush isn't the very best color I might have hoped for in the smoke, but it's the right general range, so I'm not complaining. I especially can't complain about the color of her tert in light of her brothers who didn't even get one. I'm glad the middle hatchling wasn't the heir! The last-hatched picked up a breed upgrade, though. I'd say you can't have everything but the nature legacy already proved that wrong! Still and all, I'm pretty happy with my results here. Now I'd be pretty happy to keep these genes to the end, but it never hurts to try for an upgrade, so I got ambitious and went cry/face for the mate. He came with the name Isodu, which I'll probably keep. @Haisyn

@NetShy Can I be pinged for updates? This is an interesting series of challenges you're doing and I really like the way you write the posts.

Sure, no problem! I'm glad you like it :) Nature should be updating any time now, actually.

Nature Legacy: Generation 10 @Leapoardmask The way the numbers work out, you'd think this generation would be the final hatchling, but actually it's the final parents, just as with the Wind and Lighting legacies. That means I had one more mate to find, and this heir's offspring will include the actual last dragon of the Nature legacy. I hope it's "include" and not "consist of," anyway. Buckthorne and Cypress only gave me one egg. Fortunately he came out nicely, an excellent specimen of tree-dragon. He is named Kapok after a species of particularly tall rain forest tree. His mate took kind of a long time to find; there were a fair number of green-brown-green nature wildclaws available, but green-brown-brown with acceptable genes is apparently quite a bit rarer. I had to use a scroll of renaming for her too, but I really wanted to use the name Arborvitae for the last consort and her original name didn't have any special meaning that I could discover. Here she is: I honestly hope the final heir sticks close to the father for color and genes, but my goal was a wildclaw, and having a chance (however small) for the breed upgrade is a bigger deal than the possible change of tertiary and/or color shift for me, given the reasonable ranges this mate provides.

Fire Legacy: Gen 9 Wikolia and Isodu gave me three eggs (see, nature, this is how you do legacy nests). With a triple-gened heir in the previous generation, all three hatchlings of course came out triple-gened as well, which was exciting mainly because it's the first generation of this legacy where it's happened. The first-hatched was this [s]gloomy[/s] handsome tundra, named Tua. (We're out of alphabet on the Hawaiian names list I've been using, so now we're going backwards). This was one of those generations where I really wished I was choosing the heir instead of following rules, because the middle hatchling was the star of the clutch. Perfect ash/fire/smoke colors and a two-step breed upgrade too! The sister had better in-theme colors too, technically. It took a while to find a mate, but since I'm happy with the treasure gene set I already have, I decided to go for all gem genes this time, and chose this lady:

@NetShy I am sad to admit that this is the first time I've looked in her bio, but when I noticed who I bought for my legacy challenge generation 9 mate I was pretty tickled and had to come check out your thread, I wish I had set up something nice like this! Nature Legacy: Final Generation! @Leapoardmask Here we have it! It's the thrilling conclusion of the nature legacy - and I am thrilled! My goal for this legacy was to end with a wildclaw tree dragon. Probability was against me, but Kapok and Arborvitae gave me a three egg nest, and the hatchling chosen by the RNG was... That's right, a wildclaw tree dragon! His name is Forest. It's worth noting here that for the nature legacy I've been using Random.org to choose the heirs. If it was like the fire legacy, where I go with the first-hatched per Flight Rising's own RNG, I would have a nocturne heir. To be fair, the first-hatched is still pretty awesome looking, and I'm seriously tempted to keep her too: The middle sibling isn't bad either; a fine example of a tree dragon with pretty close primary and tertiary colors (though not quite XYX, alas). This generation has nature eyes courtesy of nest donor @artemiswanderer (thank you again). As usual, I'll be taking a few more days to sell the last dragons before totaling up my score. Several leveled dragons from previous generations went to Water dominance snipers during last week's battle against fire, but I still have the ones that weren't leveled. I'm really happy with the final dragon here, though; this just might be the first heir where I don't feel the need to change genes after the fact. I'm also looking forward to seeing Forest's cousins through Cypress in @MountainBlossom's lair; it's not every day the same dragon gets to be the 9th generation consort in two legacy challenges! (Is Wasatch the current heir?) I missed the ping when the post above was first made, but not that I've seen it I'll be checking in now and again ;)

@NetShy yep! Wasatch is the end of that legacy actually, Cypress gave me 5 children to choose from and she was my favorite. She is worth breeding and I might find her a mate in the future, for now she can just sit there looking pretty :)

And congrats on the Wildclaw!!
