I don't really want to breed change them as then I'd have no faes in my lair, but I don't know what to gene them with. I'd rather keep it to treasure since it's really difficult for me to earn gems. Sticking to just treasure, as per your request. First up, Ashen. Gold/Sand/Black. He has some very nice colors actually. Smoke IS an option here, because Ripple and Current are nice quiet genes and so it shows up nicely. However, it DOES detract from the pretty yellows and Underbelly here may suit you better. The stripes are dark enough to almost reflect the Sand. Also Seraph on Fae. Always great. Stripes would work well with this too, saving you buying an extra gene. Here's a third variation, playing on the fact Ripple blends so well into Sand. I hear you on Chocolate tertiaries and let me tell you, they're better than you think! For a start off, Xenthia is an Earth Fae, and did you notice that Chocolate *perfectly* matches Earth eyes? Here's a first look, picking one of the clan's favourite genes for Black, which is Clown. Eyespot is really nice on Rust. Gives that nice pale eye. Speckle takes the harshness out of the Black, and softens it down. That makes the matching belly and eyes look better. Seraph Rust is stunning. Seriously. Look at that. Like a crinkled floating leaf. So you're after a mate! First up, let me say that first of all, when true love hits, color doesn't matter, you know? But let's assume that that's where you're going. Let's see what we got. Keeping your genes the same...there's a couple of options. First up, you look for a guy with the same primary or secondary, and then take a tertiary that gives you a nice pretty span. Just checking the market and there's 3 pages of male Fae out there with double Obs - though, no genes. Here's a couple of guys that might snap your attention: Basic genes, but tert matches the eyes. Gives you Blood-Tomato. Kinda pretty. Maybe now something *less* obvious. Obsidian's a great color in that the colors it's next to are purples. Cool purples. So can I point out this awesome, Shadow/Shadow/Black fellow? Bit of a wide tert, but greys, pinks, blacks, whites - they'll all go with Obs-Shadow primaries/secondaries. Could be your guy. Okay, so let someone who is not a frothing Plague maniac explain some fashion tips to you. So you're on a budget...so let's go for stuff that's easy to obtain, and isn't overly sniped out or what. Let me let you into a little secret that most of my clan abuses to heck. Wraps. Wraps are great. Wraps are really, really good when it comes to fluffing out your armor. One of the time and tested things you can do is combine wraps with Bird Skull. Put the Bird Skull on top and voila, it looks excellent. The birdskull on top of wraps gives a really nice effect. Something that's a little more upmarket, depending on what you're after, are capes. Now your colors, you can get away with a Woodsdrake Cape (7500 in the AH, at the moment), Duneglider (more expensive at 20K) or if you really want a splash out, try the Firebreather and Midnight capes, both hovering at 40K. The Glade one would also work just fine with your gold. I'm going to regret this but, let me get Penumbra, who has some cool layers with capes. Not just Birdskull and Wraps but there's also a tunic under the cape, to give the illusion of extra volume. Brown or Black woolies are not hard to get hold of, and they're great at making us look like flittering moths. Let me get Ratana - she's not too dissimilar in color from yourself. Also note the cool trick with the hood there. Hoods are something else also not that expensive. This guy combines the lot - wraps, birdskull, capes AND woolies, for the final effect. For you - I'd probably hunt out black (or bloody) wraps, a red (or yellow) birdskull set, a Firebreather cape and maaaybe the black wooly set. Now Eclipse, can I just borrow you a second.... So okay, we're looking at Shadow/Spring/Green here, and oooh at least your Tertiary is also green! I'll do the usual, treasure, money no object one; but I'm also going to do a 'change the Primary one' too. Let's see what we get! A plain and simple Underbelly looks really nice. Simple and elegant! It's slightly darker than the Wings so you can see it perfectly, and it does nice things with the Shadow Tiger too. It's more bold than Smoke, and it brightens her up. It's a good one! Gembond in particular is really great. It goes very bright with Green. Like bright shining emeralds!
