Tbh, I think arrow version would be better too, especially with hair like Dr. Facilier's 'do, which is actually rather bushy in some places while being slick near his neck.

Day 8 - The dreaded sandsurge.
The finalized piece is shown first, before I describe the nightmare that was this drawing. (I also tried to mess around with shading/lighting even more than last time!)

I quite like how it turned out. It’s also my first Thyme* drawing one of my own dragons :0
However.. this took me around 6 hours to do, and I couldn’t quite figure out how sandsurges were supposed to be drawn. At first, I thought I could treat it as a normal reptile, but then I realized that they kinda look like dogs or cats. Problem?
I can’t really draw cats. Or dogs. :]

The sandsurges’ faces are kinda like a weird reptilian cat, and then the feet/legs are similar to a dogs’?
Now that we’re talking about feet/paws/whatever you wanna call it, I ended up simplifying their hands into peanuts, squares and teardrops. Observe.

I definitely recommend actually learning how their hands are drawn (anatomy-wise), but this is a method you can use if you don’t care about the hands looking weird.
Lastly, I’ve also found myself making way more sketches than I thought I’d need. Usually, I’d only have one and then I’d go on with my day, but now I’m stuck making 3-4 sketches if I want something to not look bad.

15th of March - tries to draw fae for fun, realizes that it looks like absolute trash + it’s far too cartoony for my liking.

Solution? Make a thread where you respond to each commenter within 10-60 minutes with a drawing of their fae.

In regards to the eyes being expressive, I find that experimenting with the dragon's eye lids can eliminate the need for eyebrows.
I'll attach an image to explain what I mean in a second!
