One / Foe

God of Malice

TW: Horror themes, body horror, dark themes, violence, death

Info:

An entity known as the God of Malice, One (also currently known as Foe) is a charismatic being who can use its smooth voice and charm in order to make business deals with beings not only from its own world, but outsiders from other worlds. It is known to have various talents, from business deals to performing to being a mighty soldier, and after proving its worth, it was given the godly powers it's mostly known for - as well as immortality.

One holds grudges against a couple of beings for lying to it about its future with them and its purpose; It was told that one sought an alliance due to "sharing similarities" regarding their powers over darkness, and another only saw it as a pawn and denied anything from its past, proclaiming that One was destined to become a guardian should it perform well in combat.

Despite its smooth voice and charm, One is prone to using dark and dry humor in conversations. It normally keeps to itself, but should someone approach them, they may be "treated" to a head trick due to One's being bored and wanting to amuse itself.

One is unable to feel any real pain and due to being immortal, cannot die. However, should it be defeated enough, it can become "One with the Planet", an almighty form that lives up to its name and is virtually indestructable. However, even this form is said to be unable to fall completely, and should it be defeated, it will simply return as its former self and invade another planet to regain its energy.

Powers / Abilities:

- Can separate its limbs from its body. This includes being able to take off its head and hold it while speaking. It enjoys doing this as a jumpscare tactic when not talking business.

- Immortality, resurrection, and inability to feel any major pain. One does not bleed, and only feels emotional distress. Any defeat ends in a return and a more angry Foe aiming to crush the one/s who caused this. It can regain its former tactical approach should it regain enough energy or simply find a place to rest. The latter is a much slower process, but if left alone, Foe can almost be unable to fight back and would rely on summons to assist - though those same summons can be used to find more energy sources as well.

- Creating objects out of barbed wire fences and other materials. Foe enjoys the sight and texture of barbed fences and tends to create thrones and other objects out of them, as well as metal sheets. They're not pretty by any means, but it takes great pride in their creations. They also make great claw filers, even if it's just one piece.

- Powers of manipulation and charisma. One can speak in a way that even the most stubborn businessman would agree to its deal. No fear tactics needed, just the promise that they'll both get what they want when they want.

- Powers of darkness. One is a god, and has enough powers to rival even its fellow deities of darkness, despite not having complete godly powers or being affiliated with a god. The malicious nature of beings who make deals with it basically also give it strength when they pay for services. It can also use more basic powers such as creating dark shadows, immersing itself in darkness, relying on fear and nightmares, summoning dark creatures, and teleporting.

- Stealing souls. Deals always end with the unfortunate buyer's soul being stolen, whether or not they got what they wanted. One is able to steal souls from further away, but prefers to "check in" with them and give them the "congratulations they deserve" before simply taking their soul. No gruesome deaths, just the soul being absorbed from the body and into One's claws.

- Mastery of Grymmaja. Grymmaja is a very powerful energy source only found in One's kingdom: Grymma, and is very difficult to master. One was able to master it due to being able to realize when the energy was affecting it in one way or another. It took wisdom, strength, and loyalty to contain this power, and One had all three, enabling it to even endure the Immortals' Ritual and become God-King of Grymma.

Fun Facts + Rumor Debunks:

This can be used for art influences as well, if you require more lore or background to go from. More will be added as they come.

Fun Facts:

Appearance Affected Attitude:

After its ritual of becoming a god, One was a completely different looking entity. It is now mostly a bunch of metal beams that form into a single body, and seen as a "skeleton" of sorts. After going through the process of "knowing excrutiating pain before immortality", One no longer had hands and the power of Grymmaja (darkness combined with magic from Grymma) allowed it to continue on with claws completely detached from its body. This allowed One to use these claws for more than holding, scraping, and otherwise touching things - they can also be used as a shield or even multiple swords, being led with One's mind and the Grymmaja it now contains.

Despite the power One now contains and even the title it now relishes, it actually fears how people would react to its appearance underneath its suit - mostly those who it thought were its friends. One used to be a model at a time, but after becoming immortal and its return to its former home, it realized that its new look isn't all it's cut out to be.

One's body, while appearing almost muscular in front, is completely different in the back, appearing almost like a rib cage with the spine being visible - and even able to be touched. Every part is cold to the touch, and feels similar to metal frozen from sub-zero temperatures. Touching its back and stomach in particular can cause massive pain to unwary beings, and the former in particular triggers former trauma for One due to how others reacted to seeing it when returning to the Light Kingdom.

It was the likeness of a starving corpse that frightened the citizens of the Light Kingdom, and despite One being their former Guardian, they no longer saw it as such, and instead saw a monster - a freak of nature that needed to go back to its planet.

One now struggles with self-confidence when it gets to performing a modeling show, and can only seem to be at ease while at Grymma. Even then, not all of Grymma has seen its body without something covering it, and One still wonders if everyone would accept it, or if there could be others who would fear it - and not due to being a powerful god.

Grymmaja and Their Effects:

Grymmaja is accessible to only the most worthy of Grymma, and even the most powerful soldiers won't always be able to use it. It is actually a source of energy that tests both the mind and body of its possessor, and takes more than mere mastery of magic to use; In fact, it's not even magic.

Grymmaja has been a topic of both controversy and research, as while it is a rare and powerful source of energy, in order to use it, wielders would still be practically sacrificing their own lives in order to master it. Most who become on the verge of mastering Grymmaja are actually hanging by a single thread before the energy takes the remaining seconds of their lives.

The sole exceptions to this would be the Immortals, and eventually, One would be their successor, taking their roles as a single god and ruling the planet with ease.

The Immortals, despite being immortal, were still old in age and sought a single entity to gain their Grymmaja and use it to guide and protect the planet. The energy began to pick out beings based off various conditions: Loyalty, strength, and wisdom. However, for what some contained, they may not have others. Those with wisdom may not have strength, and those with strength may not have loyalty or wisdom.

It was One who had everything it took to utilize Grymmaja, thus being able to become perfect in every way. It lead the army with ease, it could persuade even the most stubborn businessmen to make deals with the planet, and it had so much charisma, that others would abide by what it wanted -- to the point the Immortals knew that it was their future god-king.

One's abilities weren't all from Grymmaja mastery - most of them were natural and also from its experiences in the Kingdom of Light. It knew about loyalty and wisdom from previous teachings, and it had unrivaled strength due to its role as a soldier.

One's usage of Grymmaja enables it to do various things that others cannot do. In fact, this is what gives One the ability to manipulate pieces of scrap metal and barbed wire in order to forge massive thrones for it to use.

Other abilities granted by Grymmaja include:

Creating illusionary worlds - Mostly to disguise normally unattractive buildings as organized businesses and cafes - though they still have an eerie aura about them due to antique toys and dim lighting.

One uses this to help make better settings for its business deals, and while the locations are still rather pleasant for the most part, they are still somewhat suspicious to those who may be more knowledgeable about the usual location.

The ability to manipulate its body - One's ritual involved losing all mortal flesh and becoming a structure of sorts, forged out of steel beams that can be used in any way it wants. Its claws are a signature form of manipulation, being able to turn from simple holding mechanisms to a shield in combat.

One uses this power for various reasons; The rib cage-like aspects to its back are able to form into three pairs of wings, and while it doesn't require them to fly, it can also use these same wings as a way to grip onto larger objects or runaway foes. When feeling intense emotions, these powers become even more dangerous, and it can summon many giant steel beams from not only the ground, but also the sky -- even from One's own body.

One's stomach is also another dangerous object, being split in half and therefore able to open and close like a mouth. However, it's normally used as a portal to "devour" enemies in combat, and can also forge more beams to act like teeth should One require extra support. This is the most painful moment anyone could face when dealing with One in combat, and if it reveals its stomach, they are done for; It's near impossible to escape this painful trap, and One will ensure it's agonizing to even move as it devours its prey slowly.

However, the stomach can act as a weakness should an enemy know how to counter it. Due to the rarity of enemies who can actually stand up against One and survive, there is only a single being who knows how to counter the portal effects: By allowing One to devour them and quickly attacking from within its body before the final blow is dealt. It's still painful and a huge risk, but it has been proven to work -- though only by a single entity.

Due to being immortal, One can utilize any form of self-manipulation in order to achieve anything it wants. It normally goes all out in combat, and otherwise normally won't rely on this power to do anything else unless it wants some amusement -- or simply seeks a larger meal. It otherwise prefers to simply charm and use other forms of manipulation to get its way, and enjoys eating souls with its "normal" mouth when seeking more strength.

Creating Eternal Nightmares - Grymmaja, while relying on loyalty - an ideal of more "kind" beings - is actually a form of dark magic, and is used for what would only be seen as "torment" or even "evil" in general. Eternal Nightmares are a form of eternal torment that sounds just as horrible as it is.

When using this power, One is able to put their prey into eternal slumber. This doesn't mean death, however; The entity is very concsious and able to still feel everything - including the terror within their nightmares sent by One and its usage of this power.

This power is also normally used as a form of amusement, as One enjoys seeing others twitching and screaming in fear while being unable to awaken from their slumber. It's never intended to kill its targets, but Eternal Nightmares are horrible enough to make those affected practically beg for death - simply to put an end to the ongoing torment.

Rumors:

One was always a malicious being from the start! - FALSE. One was actually very caring, and at a time an angel who protected the Kingdom of Light. It was an act of betrayal from a fellow soldier that soon turned One to darkness - as well as its envy toward the citizens who got to have fun while it had to remain out of sight.

After becoming immortal, One never came back to the Light Kingdom. - Again, this is FALSE. One actually sought the desire to return to its old home as a god, and to simply show them what it became. However, they only saw it as a monster due to its more "skeletal" appearance. They didn't even recognize it after watching it dance to prove who it was - and One had very specific dance moves that no one else could perform. The only one to notice who it was was Li-Kah, and he told One that it no longer belonged in the Kingdom due to affiliation with darkness - basically banishing One despite not causing any harm to anyone.

One enjoyed its life as an angel. - This is partially true, but it's also mostly false. Life as an angel was glorious for a while, when One was still living amongst the citizens and being able to perform. It enjoyed being out in public and watching everyone smiling and otherwise having a wonderful time. It also enjoyed being out in the flower fields while resting from training in the military. However, after becoming Guardian, things slowly began to grow worse. Life as a Guardian meant that you stayed out of sight, basically confined in the castle until a situation demanded action. This meant that One could no longer be out in public, lest something happened to it, and was only able to watch the citizens from above - in the King's chambers. It was actually at this moment where One began to become filled with envy - a desire that ultimately took over in the end.

One's yellow eye is just a monocle; It's really red like the other. - This is actually false! While One's yellow eye does "act" somewhat as a monocle, it's actually the remaining speck of light left! This means that One may still feel remorse after committing a horrible act to someone it cares about - especially The General, the only other being One truly had feelings for (and only just realized after noticing how close they really were). However, that light can leave at any time, especially when One is feeling deep anger or pain, and it will lose control over its emotions to the point where even The General can't get through to it. However, that light has been able to return after a lot of hard effort, and One then realizes what it's done and how much pain it's caused.

One enjoys the sights of bones and other dark items. - While One does enjoy certain objects, bones and skeletons are NOT one of them! In fact, it tends to get rather offended when others bring these as offerings due to how the Light Kingdom reacted to its otherwise skeletal body, and seeing them laying around brings back those memories. One actually enjoys things like antique toys, especially dolls and mechanical creations. Crochet and yarn dolls are its faves, but it also enjoys others, such as burlap and even the rare potato sack dolls. To One, these are more valueable than any precious gem or gold, and if someone mocks them or its liking toward them, they'll have their soul drained and most likely put into one of these items quicker than they can take back their remark.

It was a dark night as Marcus walked home alone. Rain pitter-pattered on the dark street, neon lights bleeding into the ground. While Marcus enjoyed working more than anything, he was anxious to get home; he’d barely had time for a lunch break between business meetings and the weather was horrible. However, fate had other plans; as he was waiting for a particularly long light to change so he could cross the street, a figure appeared beside him.

It wasn’t just any figure, though; it seemed to be made up of an amalgamation of various parts. It had a pair of crimson scythe-shaped blades hovering over its shoulders, and for hands, it had long, serrated claws of the same color. It wore tattered yet expensive-looking clothing (seemingly made of silk) as well as a handsome top-hat, and its eyes glowed - one yellow, one red - in the shadows of the night. It radiated an aura of menace about it, terrifying Marcus out of his skin. He didn’t dare look at it, praying that the stoplight would change soon.

“Hello, Marcus,” it suddenly murmured into his ear.

Marcus jumped. He couldn’t think of how to reply, terrified. How did this creature know his name?

“I know a lot of things,” the figure replied, as though it had simply read its thoughts. “And since you’re likely wondering why I’ve come up to you, its because I have a… business proposal, of sorts.”

“Business proposal?” Marcus had meant for it to come out like a question, but it was more like a terrifying squeak.

The figure boomed with laughter. “Yes, of course! Come with me.” It beckoned towards a nearby café, which Marcus could’ve sworn wasn’t there before. The café glowed teasingly, oozing with soft, amber light, and Marcus could tell easily that this place was warm – a sharp contrast to the icy . Plus, the figure’s voice was so nice and warm and trustworthy, like wax dripping down a candlestick, that he felt he had no choice to follow. Marcus entered the café, forgetting about his duties and journey home.

The figure motioned for Marcus to sit down at an booth, ignoring the dismal individuals who populated the café. As soon as they sat down, the figure carefully pulled out a briefcase with its long talons, and an absent minded waiter brought a single Styrofoam cup of steaming coffee. It was a cinnamon latte, Marcus’s favorite, and it took all his free will to resist downing it instantly.

The figure noticed Marcus’s internal struggle and chuckled. “That’s for you, my dear client. Don’t worry about payment-” he passed a strange-shaped coin to the waiter- “it’s all been handled.”

“So.” Marcus pulled the latte closer to himself and inhaled its sweet aroma. “What sort of business deal are we talking, mister-”

“Foe,” it interjected, grinning. “You may call me Foe.”

“Okay. Uh, what kind of deal is this, Foe?” Marcus asked. He felt a little bit suspicious of the name, but that melted away once Foe started talking. It truly is somebody I can trust, he thought, relaxing.

“Only the best deal in the world!” Foe opened the briefcase in a grand flourish. Three gleaming vials of mystery liquid lay inside, wrapped in velvet. “Elixirs, my dear boy – the most potent and powerful. Now be careful with that,” he warned, as Marcus had picked one up to examine its contents. “Those are incredibly valuable. Liquid gold, liquid luck, and liquid wisdom – you won’t find anything more valuable in the world. And I have chosen you, Marcus, to have them.”

“You want me to sell these?” Marcus looked incredulously at the liquid inside the vial. To think that it might grant him some of the most valuable things known to man – these was positively priceless.

“No, I want to sell them to you,” it replied with a grin. “Name your price.”

Marcus eagerly emptied his pockets, only to find that his wallet was missing – he must have dropped it outside the café.

“Oh, dear.” Foe clicked its tongue disapprovingly, popping its head off its shoulders (Marcus shuddered) to closely peer at the worthless items on the table. “Well, if you really want the vials-”

“I do,” Marcus eagerly insisted, his eyes aglow in the café’s light.

Foe smiled. “Well, then, I may as well just give you a sample. I’ll collect your payment later, no worries. And I’ll take these-” it swept up the worthless items (a piece of gum, a string of thread, a loose penny) with his tongue- “as collateral.”

It closed the briefcase with its talons and slid it to Marcus. Marcus was dumbstruck; all the thanks in the world couldn’t account for the gratitude he felt.

“No need to thank me.” Foe ushered Marcus out the door of the café. “Enjoy your new life, dear friend!”

And just like that, Marcus was left standing in the rain, holding a briefcase of precious elixirs. He turned behind him to see that the café had vanished into thin air, leaving behind an abandoned pawn shop with boarded-up windows and artistically placed barbed wire upon the walls. The crossing signal chirped, signaling it was time to go, and Marcus headed home.

---

As soon as he’d drank the elixirs, Marcus’s fortune increased greatly. He was famous overnight, gaining marvelous riches and incredible luck and wisdom, but no matter how hard they looked, fans and jealous enemies couldn’t seem to find him. He was so happy for many years, building a family, a lifestyle, a brand of his own, that he had completely forgotten about the exchange in the café that had led him to this moment. That was, of course, until he was magically teleported, ten years later, into the abandoned pawn shop, across from a maliciously grinning Foe.

“Now lets see about payment,” Foe began, running its claws across a string of barbed wire, which it was strategically weaving into a heart-shape.

“I can offer you anything,” Marcus excitedly replied, stacking piles of gold on a nearby tabletop. “Gold, a plane, fortunes beyond your desire! You can even become COO of my incredibly business, if you want.”

Foe wrinkled its nose. “Your mortal fortunes mean nothing to me. Besides,” it added, setting down its wire. “I was the one who gave you all that, with the elixirs and all.”

Marcus’s charisma faltered. “Very well then; what do you propose as payment?” he asked.

It smiled. “Something quite simple, you see. I have a collection of sorts-” he waved his hand, and a waiter – the same one who had brought Marcus a cinnamon latte the night of the deal – appeared- “that I would like to expand.”

Marcus observed the waiter’s face for any sign of surprise or fear, but it just stood there mournfully – no, that wasn’t it – emotionlessly, its eyes a glassy grey. When Marcus looked closer, he realized he could see right through it and that the face looked familiar. He couldn’t put a name to it, but it was certainly a famous actor from ages ago; one whose fortunes had seemingly poured in overnight, before he disappeared mysteriously and was never found again. Marcus went white with realization.

“No,” he breathed, backing away from Foe. “Can’t you take it away? Can’t you give me some sort of elixir that reverses all this?” He crashed into a cabinet, sending glass and mirrors to the floor, where they shattered into thousands of pieces. “Send me back in time! I didn’t sign up for this!”

Foe cackled maliciously, approaching Marcus’s quaking form. “Oh, but you did, dear friend. You failed the number one rule of business: make sure you know who you’re dealing with.

The being placed one of its fingers on Marcus’s forehead, its eyes shining brighter than ever as it chanted. “I am the ONE who can be FRIEND or FOE.

Marcus watched in horror, realizing the true identity of the dealer – the mysterious God of Malice – and then he was gone. His body slumped painlessly to the floor as his soul was summoned into Foe’s hand.

“Another easy one.” Foe grinned, turning over Marcus’s soul as though it were a coin. “Mortals are so simple-minded and easy to manipulate.”

With another brutal cackle, the God of Malice swiped its hand and vanished into thin air, the wire heart it had woven floating away into a pile of others. One more soul added to the collection; now it was time for another.

He found you.

"Oh? Well who do we have here?"

You flinch, then quickly turn around. A man, posed a bit leisurely, was leaning up against the cold brick wall, though hard to see. The fog around you two seems to be thick, and something in you wishes for it to stay that way. From what you can tell, he wears a long coat, dark colored with dashes of red and the edges, and a small top hat. The heavy footwear he flaunts has something sharp sticking out at the tips, somehow glimmering even in the density of the air. His whole attire seems to be torn and ripped where the ends are, though you believe that'd be the only case at his wrists. Didn't matter; you had a job to do.
His head slowly turns towards your direction, his eyes glowing a burning streak through the thick fog. Some sort of noise had sounded, almost like peices of metal softly scratching against each other, as it moved. You held your ground, trying to look at least decently formal.

He spoke. "So, who might you be?"
You clear your throat. "My name is Tatium. I come for a. . .uh, business proposal?" You couldn't remember if those were the correct words, but they must've been; he looked interested, perking his head up.
"Oh really?" He pushes himself off the wall, turning to face you completely. You thought he would've spun a bit after leaning away, almost like he was dancing. He continued, "Please, relish me with what you have to offer. Make my day if you can."

You huff in silence as a victory. First part down: get his attention piqued. You reach into the pack to your side, pulling out a peice of paper. When you look up, you jerk back. Somehow, he had came closer, keeping a distance of a foot and a half away. His eyes lower to the parchment.

"What might that be?"
"Something for later, if you agree." Him being closer, you start to see more of him; you've heard of him, but the descriptions that had been passed around seem. . .underrestimated. Not only do lengthy scarlet claws designate as his hands and around his shoulders, but he looks. . .metallic.
"Alright then, what's this proposal for?"
You recite, just as if you've practiced a thousand times. "It's come to our attention of you, One."
His eyes move like he rose a nonexistent brow.
"We see your potential. We know what you're capable of. It's imressive, and we'd love it if you were to speak more to us about your capabilities. Our proposal is. . .you help us, we help you. We have immense power in many areas; if you assist us, we can give you anything you desire practically anywhere. We can talk about it more. . .but only if you agree with our terms. How about it?"
You lift the paper closer to his face. It reads as a contract reguarding the company who wrote the logs of this God of Malice.

The wind was howling, letting out an eerie keening as it blew through the abandoned, crumbling concrete. This place was once a city… now, reduced to nothing more than a memory. As the dust kicked up, a monochrome cast fell over the city.

One couldn’t help but smile as it watched its prey stumbling through the rubble. The creature’s head swiveled from side to side, scanning its surroundings. Long, curved horns protruded from its head. Eyes wide, its large and heavyset frame seemed to shrink as another gust of wind blew by. It knew it didn’t belong.
One continued observing silently as it clambered clumsily over a large pile of rubble. It continued glancing back, as if it sensed One’s presence. Of course, that’s what One wanted. This was a dream, after all. If One wanted, its client would never even know that One was here. But that wouldn’t be any fun.

One called out the creature’s name. It jumped, spinning around in alarm. The wind died down as One stepped out of the shadows.

“Remember our deal.”

One got into the nightmare of his ex-client Ron. It's ready to go and kill Ron. Ron had agreed to pay hid debt in small fees once a month. But Ron had "forgotten" to pay the last 2 months.

One is going to kill the ex-client in a nightmare. He's doing it in a nightmare because once someone is killed in the dream realm, they are eternally trapped in that dream.

One needs his revenge. Besides, if anyone hears that it let someone LIVE after missing payment, he could not even look at himself. Nobody would take him seriously!

In this nightmare, the sky was a terrifying rage red. Despite this, it was pitch black outside. He located Ron being cornered in an alley by dream demons. One used its powers to teleport to right behind Ron.

Then he grabbed Ron's shirt collar and teleported to an abandoned warehouse where Ron was tied to a wooden chair in the middle of the room. "Please don't hurt me" Ron says with a terrified look in his eyes.

"Don't worry this won't hurt. But you'll be stuck here forever" One says with a grim smirk. Then with one swipe of his claws, Ron's fate was sealed.

One then quickly left the dream world for the mortal world where he found Ron's wife. He got her fingerprints on a knife, then stabbed Ron and his wife with that same knife.

They only spoke of It in whispers. Never too loud, in case It heard. They couldn't remember Its face or Its name. Just that the mere thought of It struck fear through even the most seasoned of men.

That wasn't the only thing people remembered It for, however. People remembered It for Its effortless charisma. The way It was able to charm the most experienced of businessmen, make brilliant deals that drained people dry while they were begging in gratitude, create soul-binding contracts to give nothing in return.

They called It the Dark Businessman. The God of Malice. The One.

Not all were as smart to avoid angering It, however. In fact, there are hushed stories of one man who made their way out of Its spell, realised the deals for what they were. No one dared speak of what he had done, lest they go down the same path as him.

It was said that he lost his mind, became mad. Could no longer tell up from down, reality from nightmares. It is said that he saw It at every corner, in every shadow; It grinning wickedly at him, morphing Its body into impossible shapes, driving Its blood-red claws into his body over and over again. He saw dolls in his room that seemed to darken and become heavy overnight, that haunted him, as they would move while he slept.

The doctors said it wasn't impossible for someone to abruptly go mad. They quoted significant financial issues, sudden bankruptcy, poor business decisions. But they didn't know the stories, the nightmares, the hellish horrors that were The One.
