Felhallow

Nestled in a forested valley, fairly close to the Pox Consulate, lies the rundown city of Felhallow. Strange growths, twisted vines and gnarled trees are very much in evidence. Any repairs to the buildings are haphazard, but they keep the rain out. The marketplace is thronged with tents. Seems the place is thriving.

This is the home of the Wynchwood clan - a motley collection of merchants, mercenaries and others.

Felhallow City

Somewhere near the Pox Consulate lies the city of Felhallow. It’s easy to miss - sitting in the middle of a dense, dark forest. There are many paths leading to and from the city, but only a few of those will actually take residents up to the city gates. The rest either lead to dead ends, or plough deeper into the forest, becoming more overgrown, twisted and root-choked the further one ventures down them.

The city itself is nothing much to look at, perhaps. Strange growths, twisted vines and gnarled trees are very common. Ivy and other climbing plants swamp the walls of the rundown buildings, or send shoots in through broken windows. Birds nest on wide windowsills and small animals forage in the plentiful undergrowth. There is healthy plant life here as well, though. Those insects that feed on nectar are kept provided by the many species of flowers around.

At first glance, Felhallow seems as though it might be abandoned. But take a closer look - many of the buildings seem to be in some state of repair. In some places it’s just canvas sacks stretched over gaps, or thick vines sealing holes in walls. However, it also looks as if bricks have been bought in, and used to patch up more severe damage. The repairs are rough and haphazard in some places, but they do well in keeping the rain out.

The cobbled streets look fairly well maintained, with trees lining them. There’s even benches to sit on. Bunting provides a nice pop of colour overhead.

The marketplace is full of tents. Mostly travelling merchants, though there’s a few set up all year round. The shops around the edge of the market display their wares in the windows. Various items are bought and sold here. The inhabitants deal in both imported and exported goods. The scent of food lingers in the air, mixing with the smell of spices and drinks in a way that confuses the senses.

Most of the residents are permanent - though they will travel when the need arises. A few are wanderers, returning as and when they feel like it. Some vanish without warning - never to be seen again. It’s not clear what became of them.

Overall the city welcomes both newcomers and visitors. The inhabitants are mostly Imperials and Skydancers, though there’s a few other breeds scattered here and there. The large number of Imperials in one place is interesting - if not slightly worrying. There’s obviously something about the city that attracts them, but no one’s quite sure what it is.

The lake

The lake on the outskirts of the city is a treasure trove of fish/water birds/plant life. Many a dragon has been lured there, attracted by the various water plants that grow round the margins. They don’t venture onto the lake itself however - that’s Cove’s job. He’s the main fisher drake, and he’s very good at his job.

Be wary of the waterfall at one end, however. Something lurks behind it. Something that has been responsible for inhabitants either disappearing or coming back strangely changed.

Wynchwood Forest

The forest is old. Ancient, gnarled trees line mossy pathways that either lead to the city or end up nowhere. It’s a spooky place, and all who venture deep within the shadows would be wise to take a guide with them.

Weather

Overall temperate. There’s quite a bit of rainfall (sometimes for days), but when the sun does shine, it’s really nice. Winter storms aren’t uncommon - trade in the city usually shuts down when they come along. Can get quite humid in the summer, which brings out the annoying biting insects.
Culture

Felhallow’s inhabited by a mixed bunch. Most are merchants or mercenaries who move in and out of the city at will. The permanent residents are shop keepers, florists, gardeners etc. Everyone tends to mingle when they’re not working, which leads to a wide variety of foods from different Flights being served and enjoyed. The Elemental holidays are observed, but no one’s really bothered about actually worshipping any of the deities. It’s more that the inhabitants enjoy a good party. Guests are more than welcome to join in if they feel like it.

Clothing

There’s no rules about clothing. Anyone can wear as much (or as little) as they like. Silk is a bit pricier, but in general cloth is one thing that sells quite well. Hoarding certain pieces of clothing is somewhat frowned upon, but it happens anyway.

Death/funeral practices

In general, the dead are buried in Felhallow. Albion is the local graveyard keeper, and she treats the deceased with as much respect as they had in life. If the family can’t afford a headstone, then she’ll usually plants some flowers over the grave.

The trouble is…there’s more than a few Imperials in the city. It’s not really clear what happens when they die - save that they’re removed from the city as fast as possible.

Political situation

Though there is a council…they don’t hold much weight in Felhallow. Most of the inhabitants are quite happy to dole out their own versions of punishment - but sometimes the council is needed to sort out arguments or deal with repeat offenders.

Exports

- Houseplants
- Fruits/vegetables/seeds
- Fish
- Baked goods

100 lore-building questions

1. What is the name of your clan?

The clan calls itself the Wynchwood clan. Felhallow is the city they live in.

2. Is it considered a clan? A tribe? A group? Other?

A clan…but a fairly loose interpretation of one.

3. How did the name originate?

The clan name came from the forest surrounding the city - Wynchwood Forest. They’d been wandering amongst the trees for days before coming upon the city - so why not name themselves after the forest that caused them so much trouble?

Felhallow is simply a made-up name that I liked the sound of.

4. What form of leadership runs your clan? A council? A King/Queen/Other? If not, how does the clan operate?

A council! How well they’re doing is debatable, but each member is trying his/her best. If there’s something that needs to be put to a general vote, then it will be.

5. What is the main income of your clan? Is there anyone that manages the money?

Trade, mostly. There’s quite a few merchants within the city who rely on the residents/visitors buying their wares. There’s also independent shops scattered around.

Thorne is the one who deals with the treasury/other money matters.

6. Are certain things more valuable than currency that would be used as such?

Information would be one. Sometimes just knowing who might be planning to try and ambush you is valuable. In terms of actual items, I’d say things like runestones or maybe certain food items? Delicacies from other flights that can’t easily be found, or maybe just something that reminds that dragon of home.

7. Is your clan dedicated to one craft or few, OR do they specialize in many things?

I’ve got mercenaries, a florist/accidental necromancer, merchants, shop keepers, artists, pirates, gardeners etc. So it’s safe to say there’s a mix of professions.

8. Does your clan trade with other clans for wares, or do they prefer to keep to themselves?

They’ll trade with other clans. Quite a few of them are merchants and there’s a few mercenaries as well, so they tend to travel and sell their wares/buy things from other clans.

9. Is there any enemies to your clan? If so, how?

Not yet, no. Still working details and other bits out, but if there were enemies, it’d be likely that they’d be in the city, rather than external forces.

10. Does your clan squabble with these enemies or other clans often?

N/A on the enemies. Generally quite peaceable with other clans, but they probably wouldn’t hesitate to deal with a problem should it arise.

11. Does your clan have many allies? If so, how do they usually interact with each other?

No allies yet. Many members of the clan regularly travel in and out of the city, so they’re well up to date on what’s happening in other Flights. Should possibly look into lore alliances, but no idea how to go about it at the moment!

12. Is there treaties or contracts involved in alliances or is it verbal/based off trust?

N/A.

13. Does your clan get along Beastclans or are they all enemies?

Wouldn’t say the clan consider the Beastclans to be enemies. They used to be quite wary of them, but that opinion is slowly changing as a few filter into the city. I’d say Serthis are probably regarded with the most suspicion, but even they can be seen occasionally.

Beastclans don’t really feature in my lore, so I don’t have much of an opinion on them, one way or another.

14. Does your clan accept Beastclan members? Why or why not?

They’re…a bit more open to the idea than they were before. There’s still a few who hold onto the resentment of the past though.

15. If yes, would they have any form of issues integrating into your clan? Would any dragons show distaste towards them?

They would face some form of discrimination, yes!

16. Is any specific race of Beastclans disliked? Or certain races seen as less than others?

Not really.

17. Are they treated like actual Familiars?

Not really? The few of them in the clan are treated more like friends or companions.

18. Are there any race or animals treated as Familiars?

I’d say birds (other than the normal Familiar ones). They’re used as messengers if individuals can’t get information delivered the normal way.

19. Does your clan celebrate the Elemental Holidays? Why or why not?

Oh yes! None of them are too bothered about worshipping the respective deity though. It’s more that they’ll use any excuse for a party.

20. IF yes, what do these festivities entail? Is it always monthly? Can anyone participate?

They’ll hang up banners and bunting, sweep the marketplace, wash the windows/curate nice displays to be seen. Lanterns are usually much in evidence, no matter the festival. There’s usually several individuals doing the cooking - though Albion is not allowed anywhere near the ovens. (she’s not a bad cook exactly - it’s just that things tend to end up on fire if she uses an oven.)

Lots of drinks (mostly nonalcoholic) and snacks are provided. There’ll usually be a big bonfire in the evenings, with various types of entertainment going on as well.

Anyone can participate - though if individuals do go home early, then that’s fine. Yeah, they’re monthly.

21. Is any specific element more respected than others, or one more hated than others? If so, why?

Not as a whole. Individual dragons might have strong views on which flight is the best or which one is the worst though.

22. IS any race of dragon more respected or more hated than others? If so, why?

Not really! There’s not a whole lot of variety within the city (there is a reason for this lore-wise), but no one thinks their species is better than another species. Generally speaking - I just really like Imperials and Skydancers.

23. Can all forms of elemental magic heal?

Yes, but the strength/effect of the magic varies. Nature, Water and Ice dragons would probably be the most efficient healers, but Plague dragons might also be somewhat good at it. After all, they’d be able to identify signs of disease or infection pretty fast.

24. Is all magic absolutely elemental (strictly to the in-game lore magics) or are there general forms of magic any dragon can use? If so, how do they work?

There are general spells anyone can use - like turning yourself invisible, for example. Mind you, said spells can backfire on the individual, so some caution should be used when trying them out for the first time.

25. Is any certain magic more powerful than others?

This depends on how proficient the caster is, I think.

26. Are there such thing as enchantments or curses? How would they work?

Yep! Both enchantments and curses are usually attached to physical objects that an individual might possess. For example - someone might have an amulet/necklace that has been enchanted to allow them to teleport. However, the enchantment would only work if the individual is wearing said amulet/necklace.

Curses are pretty hard to get rid of. Unless the cursed individual really does change their ways, the curse tends to stick around until death (or even after death, in a few rare cases).

27. Are tomes important to magic users? Why or why not?

Yep! They’re used to help hone an individual’s magic or give instruction on how to use a spell correctly. Not everyone uses one however.

28. Are certain things or places able to amplify ones magical abilities?

Probably. There haven’t been any cases of that happening as far as anyone knows though.

29. Do dragons have to be in certain conditions to be able to perform their magic? (Ex. An Ice or Nature dragon would not be able to perform their abilities in the Ashfall Wastes.)

Somewhat. Though they can perform some types of magic anywhere, elemental magic is strongest in the individual’s home territory.

30. Can a dragons magic become naturally more powerful over time or would they need any form of training to help them become more powerful?

They’d need training in some respects - if enchantments need to be cast is one example.

31. In-game lore says only water can be seers, but can any dragon be able to do the same regardless of element? How do they receive future prophecies without the influence of a Deity?

Yeah, any dragon can be a seer. How it happens isn’t completely clear. For instance, Fane sees flashes of the future every so often, but they’re fractured and don’t completely make sense. Seer gets visions in his dreams - unfortunately they’re of things that happened in the past. Which…isn’t all that helpful really. Does mean he’s pretty good at rewriting the history books in the library though!

32. Does your clan have any dragons dedicated to researching and studying magic?

Verdaunt researches healing related magic and Zee’s dedicated to studying the odd magic floating around Felhallow.

33. What about a court magister or someone who is very knowledgeable in magic/arcane that gives advice or helps with magic/arcane matters?

That’ll be Zee as well!

34. Can dragons use magic to shape or create things?

Some of them can. They can’t create complex objects with lots of details, but things like (fairly simple) ice sculptures and carvings are shaped using magic. Sculptures with fine details are still made by hand, however.

35. Can ones magic influence or read someones mind?

Absolutely! However, mind control (as in manipulating someone to do what you want) is forbidden. If some is revealed to have been dabbling in said mind control, then they’ll find themselves outside the city gates and at the mercy of the forest pretty fast.

Mind reading is allowed - but only if the individual who is on the receiving end permits it.

Telepathy is also utilised. It’s a good way of transferring information you really don’t want anyone else to know. Saying that, though, it’s not exactly a fail-safe method of communication.

36. Do your dragons use magic to attack others in combat? Can any element engage in magic combat?

That would depend on who/what they’re fighting. It’s a bit difficult to start chanting a spell if you’re running towards/away from something. They’re more likely to use magic in an ambush situation.

In regards to the second question - yes.

37. Do your dragons worship the deities?

Nah. Individuals can, if they want to, but many of them don’t bother at all.

38. Do dragons worship only their deity of their element, or would they worship another deity, if at all?

They’re free to worship whoever/whatever they want.

39. Are there dragons that don't believe in the deities or hate them? If so, why?

Probably - but I’m blanking on the exact reasons why right now. Will come back to this.

40. Are there dragons dedicated to convincing others to serve their deities?

Nope. They’d just get ignored, honestly.

41. What is exalting to your clan/dragons exactly? Is it noble? Foolish?

It’s not really a thing they think about regularly. Yeah, it happens, but they’re not particularly bothered by it much.

42. How does one go about exalting another? Is it a ritual? A process? Does one decide for themself and leave? Does another help

They either decide for themselves or get chucked out of the city. No one really helps. It might also be that something happens to them while travelling as well.

43. Where would one go to be exalted?

They’d leave the city.

44. IS it considered blasphemous or crazy to not worship ones elemental deity?

Nope.

45. Do the worship of the deities play a big role in your clan?

Nah.

46. Do any of your clan members hate the Tidelord or are scared because he vanished? Are any helping to search?

The only one slightly concerned is Cove. But then, he’s quite anxious about everything anyway.

No one’s helping to search for the Tidelord.

47. Do dragons that come back from exalting seen as higher or lesser for leaving/being kicked out?

Nope.

48. Does your clan or any dragon do any form of sacrificial ritual for their deity? Or offer any items?

No.

49. Are any breed more liked or disliked than any others?

50. Can breeds of their "origin element" use their magic better? (Ex. A spiral dragon using wind magic better because the breed originated from Wind more than say a guardian dragon using wind magic)

Maybe? Not something I’ve thought about much really.

51. Are your dragon sizes more to that of in-game canon (Fae is the smallest, Imperial the biggest, etc.) or are they closer together?

Pretty much in-game sizes really.

52. Are all dragons similarly expressive or do they all uniquely show their emotions?

Varies between individuals. Bronte, for instance, is pretty expressive for an Imperial. He’s not particularly good at hiding his emotions, so everything he’s feeling/thinking tends to show on his face. If he’s working, though, then he can keep his reactions to a minimum.

53. Are your dragons able to fly? Or is wholly determined by their wing sizes?

Most of them can - but there’s a few who don’t. Breac’s been badly injured in the past, so he doesn’t bother. Fane’s wings are really delicate (Bee gene headcanon), which means she needs to be careful. She does fly, but not when the weather’s rough. Kinna has limited mobility in her wings due to the scars.

54. Do Ancients and Moderns get along with each other?

Yeah. There might be a few misunderstandings cropping up here and there, but overall they do.

55. Can your Ancient and Modern dragons breed with each other despite in-game lore?

Not exactly. They can fall in love etc, but not breed with each other.

56. Do Ancients and Moderns socialize regularly or do they both have their separate areas within the clan?

I think this depends on the individual. For instance, Vile loves being social, whereas Ynfry would rather eat souls be left alone.

Overall though, there’s quite a lot of mingling going on.

57. How did your clan react to finding Ancients?

“Huh…you say you’re the Deities first children? Well…sounds odd, but alright then.”

58. Do Ancients have a vastly different culture than those of Moderns?

Not entirely sure. Possibly?

59. What about the Obelisks?

Nah. Ok, the first guys were trapped in stone for centuries, but I’d say that they probably adapted pretty fast to modern life.

60. Are there any ceremonies that might be breed specific?

Maybe. Not entirely sure on this one yet.

61. Do dragons mate for life or no?

Varies! Normally yes, but well…things happen in life. Most of them are monogamous, though there’s quite a few who just aren’t bothered about finding a mate. Any offspring aren’t canon - unless explicitly mentioned as such.

Heck - even Bronte and Fane don’t have kids in lore, despite the offspring list saying otherwise.

62. Do dragons look down on others for not having a lineage? (G1 dragons)

They don’t care if you just straight up spawned out of thin air. Nor do they care if you have a family tree as long as an Imperial.

63. Do you have any disabled dragons? IF so how do they receive assistance for such? Are they considered less?

Absolutely not. They’re all treated normally. If anyone were to single any of them out, or if there was bullying going on, the offending individuals would be chucked out of the city pretty fast.

There are ramps if individuals can’t manage steps, a draconic version of Braille printed books/scrolls, large text books etc.

Requiem & Thorne are blind. Both are pretty self-sufficient in terms of day to day life, though Requiem’s still adjusting to losing his sight.

Melody is mute. He usually writes things down.

Brane lost an eye in a fight (before he arrived in Felhallow).

Mythr’s got reduced sight in one eye - got hit by a chuck of rock when he released himself from his statue form.

Bronte’s got a limp.

Cove’s autistic.

Selenium has a lot of (slightly disfiguring) scars, so he keeps the ghastcrown on in order to avoid scaring any hatchlings/more delicate members of the clan. He also has an artificial limb.

Breac got badly injured while dealing with one of the monsters in Wynchwood forest. As a result, he moves rather slowly/relies on his cane.

64. Are your dragons in your lore, anthro, human, or just simply dragon?

Shape-shifters. Most of them have gijinka forms (purely in my head, since I can’t draw).

65. Are your dragons more human like in terms of intelligence or are they more feral/animal like?

Most of them are on the human-ish side of things. There’s a few who tend towards the more feral side, but even they understand/speak common Draconic.

66. How technologically advanced is your clan? Do they use magic to fuel technology? or just simply magic for all necessary things?

Tech is mainly late 1800s to 1920s. Steampunk-ish, I guess? They’ve got electricity/plumbing, old style phones (which sometimes don’t work as they should) etc. Magic is used for things - spells to keep lamps burning for longer is one that’s frequently used. They’ve got pistols, guns and cannons in addition to the weapons on site.

No cars - they can fly, so why would they need them? There are air ships/sailing vessels though.

Anyway…not that advanced in terms of RL, but advanced enough for them is the answer. With a bit of magic thrown in for good measure.

67. Does your clan grow/farm food? OR do they hunt for it all?

Ruan manages the growing of vegetables/fruit. His garden is doing pretty well, though sometimes the odd magic floating round Felhallow might cause some vegetables to grow abnormally large.

He keeps a small flock of chickens. Their eggs sell pretty well.

68. What does your clan do with abandoned eggs?

Sell them, mostly. Occasionally one will hatch while in the nursery. Then the hatchling is usually raised.

69. Does your clan have ambassadors/representatives? What do they do?

Nope.

70. Do your dragons hold marriage ceremonies of sorts if they were to mate?

This really depends on the individuals in question. It’s not really a ceremony as such, more just a big or small celebration. But then, saying that, there’s only one or two couples who are married in lore right now. And one of those pairs hasn’t even told anyone that they’re actually married…

71. Is architect important in your clan? Do they live where infrastructure is important or no?

I’d say yes. They need a roof over their heads in order to keep the rain, wind and biting bugs out.

72. Are there any forms of teachers to help with literacy/fighting/magic/history/etc?

Kinna teaches a bit of everything, really. Her lessons range from the history of magic to how to care for your pet invertebrates.

73. Besides forms of leader is there any jobs considered to be more valuable/ important than others?

Not really. Some individuals might look down on those who have different jobs, but no one really considers their job to be more “valuable” than someone else’s.

74. Does your clan have a library?

Yep! It’s run by Aibreanne. Sometimes there’s volunteers as well, but they keep walking out due to the fact they keep finding bodies in the alcoves.

75. What about cooks or any form of servants?

No servants. There’s no one particular cook, either. Everyone tends to make their own meals (with varying degrees of success), unless gathered for festivals. Then it tends to be divided up between a few members.

76. Do you have a prison? How is it run? What would someone have to do to be imprisoned?

Nope, no prison.

77. Would your dragons have a trial for the offending person? How strict are the laws if your clan has any?

The offending individual would be dragged up in front of the council, since they’re the ones who decide what ultimately happens. Yeah, there would be a trial involved.

The laws are…well, Barra drew up a list of laws (more like guidelines really) when the first members were settling in the city. They’re…more or less ignored, to be honest. It’s things like no fighting in the marketplace or no swindling each other, but both of those have occurred on separate occasions.

Even murder is allowed…within reason.

78. What is the most serious punishment and the lightest punishment for a crime?

Lightest punishment would basically be a slap on the wrist and a stern “don’t do that again!” Possibly house arrest if the offence does get repeated.

Most serious - exile. Someone would really have to break the law for that to be an option, however.

79. Do Beastclans believe in any form of deity or God of their own? Do they try to convert dragons?

Beastclans don’t really feature in my lore right now, so gonna go with no.

80. Are there any planets that your dragons, or others, have found?

There might be strange things they’ve spotted in the sky, but so far, no big discoveries like planets.

81. Are your dragons developing a way to go into space?

Nope!

82. Sorneith canonically has 2 moons. What would they be named if your clan had to name them?

Cinno and Ithos.

83. Is the Shade feared in your clan? Anyone "Shade-Touched"?

Most of the clan are somewhat leery of the Shade, yeah. Maple is a Shade-possessed statue.

Several members have had close brushes with the Shade/Shade-touched dragons -Bronte, Jura and Fane all have, plus a few others as well.

84. IS there anyone that worships the Shade? Are they open about it?

…It’s a possibility. There’s no one going around preaching about it though.

85. Does your clan believe in such a being?

Yes.

86. IS there a certain dress code or expectation of style in your clan? Any developed styles over time?

No. Anyone can wear whatever they want. Some dress in a practical manner suiting their profession, others…don’t.

87. What about food? Any food that is considered your clans cultural food?

Humm…bread is regularly baked fresh of a morning. Kinna usually bakes sweet treats like cakes and pastries (when she’s not busy with the young’uns that is). Wouldn’t say there’s any foods that could be considered cultural…need to think on it a bit more.

88. What of slang? Or sayings? What about swears? Do certain dragons/ dragons of elements have certain sayings/swears? (Think when the Light Sprite yells "Baku Snout!" in G&G out of frustration)

Dragons from the Southern Icefield tend to use the Shade as a swear.

“Acorn-headed idiots” is frequently heard. “Don’t count your flowers” is used in the same way as “don’t count your chickens before they hatch.”

“Become compost” is commonly used as an insult. As is “I hope you get lost in the Labyrith.”

89. Are fictional books in your lore similar to books in our real life? What about comics and toys?

Pretty similar, yeah. Various genres are read - but not sure what fantasy novels would be like! Comics are read as well - mostly action/adventure series, though romances or tragedies are also fairly popular. Horror/supernatural aren’t really consumed - there’s enough weird stuff going on in real life already.

Toys tend towards dolls/plush animals/objects etc.

90. If a dragon was to say try to invent something we have in our modern lives, like a TV or a car, How would other dragons react?

They’d be a bit “???” about it all, I think! They do have proper ovens/stoves and possibly fridges as well. They wouldn’t really have a use for cars, so anyone who did try and invent one would probably face a bit of ridicule.

91. Do dragons have certain things we do? Like desks for writing, full beds, shelves, etc. Or would they be very different to compensate for their style of living/being dragons? (Like instead of beds, they'd have nests)

Tend to envision them as humanoid most of the time (dragons when travelling long distances), so yeah, they have desks/beds etc.

There are nests in the nursery - the hatchlings need somewhere to feel safe after all.

92. Do other forms of dimensions exist?

Not that anyone knows…it’s entirely possible though.

93. Does any form of heaven or limbo exist in your lore? Or any form of afterlife?

There’s an afterlife that exists.

94. Do spirits exist? Can they possess or move things around?

They do. While they can’t possess others, they can communicate with them - and that includes moving things around.

95. Do dragons hunt for the paranormal if they do exist?

Not really.

96. Are there any folktales or legends that exist within your clan? Any Mythical creatures?

Freybug started off as a figure in a folktale used to scare hatchlings. Cairn is a figure of legend (well…technically). Tales are told of the numerous monsters and spirits in Wynchwood forest.

97. What about songs that would be commonly sung among your dragons?

They probably do have songs, but not sure what they’d be like!

98. Are hatchlings assigned a job when they're young or can be anything they please once they're of a certain age?

They usually get to choose. Sometimes someone chooses for them, but normally it’s their decision.

99. Do some dragons sometimes eat outside their food groups? Like a Tundra eating meat/fish?

Yep!

100. What does your clan do with gene scrolls/breed changes? Are they even a thing? Magic? Can they willingly change their breed at any time using one? Would they still carry characteristics of their old breed after they change? IS it instant? Gradual? Same with genes? Or do the patterns mix for a bit before changing to the new?

They are a thing, but it’s really rare for anyone to use one. The exception being Trin. She’s changed her breed so many times that she’s forgotten what she started out as. She certainly wasn’t a Gaoler anyway. For her the change tends to happen fairly quickly. Can be a bit painful sometimes though. No, she doesn’t retain any characteristics of what she was before. The more complete the change, the better, as far as she’s concerned anyway.

95. Do dragons hunt for the paranormal if they do exist?

Not really.

96. Are there any folktales or legends that exist within your clan? Any Mythical creatures?

They probably do have songs, but not sure what they’d be like!

98. Are hatchlings assigned a job when they're young or can be anything they please once they're of a certain age?

They usually get to choose. Sometimes someone chooses for them, but normally it’s their decision.

99. Do some dragons sometimes eat outside their food groups? Like a Tundra eating meat/fish?

Yep!

100. What does your clan do with gene scrolls/breed changes? Are they even a thing? Magic? Can they willingly change their breed at any time using one? Marking of the seasons

The clan holds celebrations for each different season. An example is detailed below.

When summer turns to autumn they’ll hang lanterns all around the marketplace to see in the earlier nights. Decorations consisting of leaves in autumn colours are also much in evidence. Fallen branches are collected in preparation for a bonfire in the evening.

Special loaves are baked - these might be shaped to look like leaves or pumpkins, or there could be spices mixed into the dough. These are usually baked on the day of the celebration, since that’s when they taste best. Cheeses flavoured with herbs are popular. Cakes are too, though the hatchlings have to be monitored since they tend to eat too much of those.

As night falls, the bonfire is lit. Everyone gathers round and shares food with each other. The air is full of the sound of laughter and stories. Though there’s no fireworks, there are stalls to have a look at and a few games as well. The celebration goes on for as long as everyone’s happy, though no one cares if some individuals do go home early.

Weddings

Not a big deal in Felhallow. One couple did hold a traditional wedding ceremony once. It was certainly…interesting. Since then, marriage ceremonies are more intimate affairs, with a small and very select guest list. Rings are exchanged - depending on if the ones getting married want rings, of course. Some of them don’t. There’s usually a cake or other sweet treat involved.

It’s been noted that Felhallow has a large amount of Imperials living there. Though most regularly travel out of the city for work, they do return once their job is done.

The question is why? What is it about the city that seems to attract them? Is there something in the air, perhaps? It’s known that there’s definitely a strange magic floating around the city. Perhaps it’s something to do with that.

Questions have been asked, but no one seems to have a definitive answer to any of them. A few individuals have noted that it almost seemed as though something was calling to them when they entered the forest. When questioned further on this, however, they could only give vague answers. It wasn’t a voice as such, more a faint…bell (or similar) that seems to guide them to the city gates. No, they don’t hear it if they leave the city, then come back again.

Research is on going, but it’s not producing any promising leads so far.

Random details

Ages: Varies, but those in the city are mostly around their 20s - 80s. The rate each breed matures is different. Kinda head-canon that Guardians reach full maturity at around 40 years, Imperials at 35 etc. I don’t pay much attention to site ages. Natural upper age limit is around 3,000 years, though there’s a couple of spirits/minor deities who have gone past that.

…And then there’s the immortal inhabitants…

Offspring: Aren’t really a thing. Most of my pairs are fodder breeders who don’t have any children in lore. There are hatchlings around, but they’ve either been rescued or somehow traveled into the city by themselves.

Size ranges: Are the same as the site’s official ones. I like working out what infrastructure would be like when the clan is mostly full of Imperials. Besides - look at nature on Earth. Loads of species of different sizes coexist (more or less) alongside one another.

Breed lore: Is pretty much ignored. Or just used as a spring board. For instance, there might be a Pearlcatcher who is haughty…but maybe they’re been bought up to think they’re better than everyone else. What would happen if they discovered they weren’t much different to others?
