Born in the Sunbeam Ruins - though Thorne himself never saw the sun. Blind from the moment he hatched, he decided fairly early on in life that he wasn’t going to sit around and mope. He had his whiskers and talons to help him find his way round, and he soon discovered a new ability.

He could smell magic.

Admittedly it’s taken Thorne a while to fully grasp what he can do with this. Not all spells smell the same - which does help him somewhat. However, there’s a flip side to this. Though most spells do have a distinct scent, there have been a few times when he’s gotten a bit muddled - due to completely different spells smelling rather similar to each other.

He might be blind, but Thorne’s no slouch when it comes to managing the treasury. He’s careful to count every bit of treasure coming in or going out. Okay, there were a few times when someone managed to fool him, but he soon grew wise to their tricks.

Lately, however, he’s realised that something is a little off. There’s a scent of magic hanging round the treasury most mornings now…well, a weak scent anyway. Hardly anyone would notice it, unless they were concentrating…but Thorne’s not just anyone. And sensing magic is what he does.

One way or another…he’ll catch the thief. He’s certain of it.

Thorne’s aware that Bronte’s currently in a relationship. And in all honesty, he’s not actually sure if they’ll ever be able to be together. Doesn’t stop him from dreaming about it. Maybe one day he’ll finally be able to gather up the courage to say how he feels. For now, though, he’s happy enough just listening to Bronte talk.
