Ember and her hit it off enough; the brown-and-white Light Cat was pretty intense for Wisp, but she was doing her best to not buckle under the weight of a cat that burned with the intensity of a thousand fires; yet managed to be Light.

They were interested enough as a potential mate, too. Ember had big plans, big dreams for the crown, which Wisp hoped would be the right decision.

God, she hoped she makes the right decision.

The headaches grew more and more crushing by the day. It felt like Queen Fae was in Wisp's head, screaming, yelling, clawing from the inside out. It felt like a crown of thorns was upon her head, or maybe inside her head. She wanted to claw off the crown and run away, but that wasn't what she should do.

Maybe she should just let her sister have the crown.

Worry, the Air Storkie, a cat who hardly voiced any interest in the crown since the beginning. Besides, Wisp was a Metal Storkie - her mother had informed her this is basically what she was born for. War. Violence. Cravings and intense desires to dominate, to consume, to clash with opposite forces.

Wisp desperately wanted to run away from it all, and it took all her energy to not do exactly that.

Surprisingly, Ember was there for her, intense, yes, but still standing by her side, nuzzling her, bringing her up. The Light Storkie was more than happy to provide some comfort for his mate, but he wasn't a Healer. The most he could do is try to assure her that she was the right leader for the job, that this was her destiny, and that she was amazing.

So why did it all feel so wrong? Wisp could almost see a clock in her head, ticking down to her inevitable doom. She just couldn't read the hands, or see how much time she had left; just knew that it was there.

She felt like she was going to lose her mind.

Upon the urgings of Ember, Wisp sought out a Water Storkie. While there were very few with real experience, one cat remained; one that, now that she thinks about it, looks quite a bit older than the rest.

Their name is Joy, and they're perhaps the oldest cat in the Colony. (They're approximately 43 Moons old and are the second oldest living cat in this locke, not including the age in which they joined, which was 12 moons. They joined in Round 8)

They weren't, you know, old old by any means. But for the average lifespan of cats here, they were incredibly old. The only cat older than them was Jeremy, the Healing cat who, also managed to somehow stay alive and under the radar of tragedy after tragedy. [Jeremy joined Moon 2, and was one of the rebellion's founding members. Impressed that this old boi managed 37 moons so far. Adding his age, to make him 49 Moons old]

That is semantics, however, and the god of this world rambling. The older Water Cat, Joy, is found tucked away in a private nook and cranny, in a den immaculately built by an Earth Storkie. She must have been in someone's good graces at some point.

"What brings you to my den, my Queen?" Her tone is respectful, but tired. Wisp can't blame her, this place is awful.

"I am...struggling with...feelings." Wisp sighs. Talking about feelings feels odd...wrong. Her mother always told her they were unimportant. The only things that mattered was what you could achieve outwardly; any negative feelings, if they impacted your leadership, should be discarded. Ember was right to call it out for the folly that it was.

"Oh, I see." Joy sits up a bit, perking her ears up. "You are, perhaps, the first ruler to come to me specifically, seeking my counsel on such matters... you are, however, choosing the right cat for the job." She flicks her ear. "How can I help you work through your feelings?"

"I don't know, I just..." Wisp sighs. "I feel paranoid, I feel pained, I have headaches all the time...I can't stop thinking my mom is looking at me all the time, and I'm failing, and I'm an awful leader...."

"I see, I see." Joy is going to summon a small bubble of water, and as Wisp vents, it's going to grow a bit bigger and get darker and blacker with every negative emotion vented. When Wisp gets all her feelings out, Joy nods, and looks at Wisp.

"This bubble holds all of your emotions; negative." She points to it with a claw. "Now that you've let them all out, why don't you let your negative emotions go with this bubble?"

"How?" Wisp tilts her head. "I don't...quite understand."

"Use your claw, of course - pop the bubble, the water will flow into the earth, and there it will stay. It will evaporate, become rain. It'll feed the grass underpaw. It'll add to the soil of the earth, and it will become the mist in the morning. Negative emotions are a part of life, and once we work through them, they can become part of the natural cycle of living. It'll make room for positives, too."

"Oh." Wisp stares at this cat for a few moments, blinking. Well, that makes sense to her. She reaches out with a claw, and pops this bubble. With it, the tainted, dark water hits the grass, but before it completely soaks in, she can see some bits of it turn clear again.

"Well done, My Queen." Joy gives her a respectful nod. "Let's work through some positive emotions together, now. Things you're grateful for - things you're happy about, that sort of thing...."

Unfortunately, a 3. Fortunately, it was Joy who got hurt, and she had an extra life - 2 extras, as I made the decision to give her and Jeremy an extra life for their longevity.

Replacing a 9 roll with the following Storkies Admin Task: Do something from my tasklist, specifically adding Magic Domains, Magic Leveling Rewards, Magic History and Magic Lore Blurbs to magics. Until everything's fleshed out, then I'll work on something else ^^

Changing 18 to remove the 'instantly becomes the leader' clause. Still keeping 'choose the highest rarity cat', with the added clause that if all cats are in the same rarity tier, I can reroll.

Lore

Unfortunately, the mission wasn't a success, but they tried their best at least. Joy was a few scars richer, and Cloud was a bit disheveled but alright. Joy at least could work through her feelings on that, and work through it she did while Jeremy worked on healing her wounds. No broken bones, just a few surface scars, so nothing too risky for an untrained doctor to try to fix.

"A busy moon for you, hm?" Joy inquires, glancing down at Jeremy. "Apologies for adding to your work."

"Nonsense. Kitting's easy stuff - 'sides, that's the Love Storkies' realm. No complications made for a real easy moon."

"Mmm....good." Joy hums. "That's one thing that old King got right. Kits really make the place come alive." She sighs. "'Course, they also make real easy cannon fodder. Not tha' anyone would admit it."

"Oh heavens no, but.... everyone thinks it." Jeremy agrees, with a bit of a sigh at that. He wasn't the only Healing cat in the Colony, by any means, but he's certainly been around for a while.

"What do you think of this new Queen?" Joy asks, tilting her head and looking at her friend. Jeremy glances over at her, and hums.

"Well," He remarks. "I understand I'm biased....as she is technically the child of Fae, and I am from the side of the Poisonhearts, and you're from the Briarthorns--"

"Hush, Jeremy. I've outgrown this whole....factions thing."

"Alright. Fair. I think she's alright; certainly got more morals than a lot of the Kings and Queen's I've seen...I think the last tolerable one was Blade."

"Ol' Blade was a king? Really?" Joy hums.

"Oh yeah, he was a King for a while. Nice enough guy...shame he didn't last longer."

"Indeed, indeed."

"But, Queen Fae is...a piece of work, for sure. Was, I should say." Jeremy remarks. "Can't say I'm particularly fond of her."

"And Wisp?"

"It's like Wisp isn't really her kin; completely different personality."

"Mmm." Joy nods, sipping some tea she conjures for herself. "That could be good, could be bad. She could be good, better than her mother; or she could be worse. Or she could be incompetent; or far more competent with time."

"Considering she's the one at the helm, let's hope she's competent."

1. Big mistake. Somebody misread the directions. Three random cats attempt to break into the lair of the Death Paragon instead of some other random chump's colony. They're lost to the tar pits, never to be seen again. Exalt!

Kiki [ who does not get adopted per my coin flip rules ], Jeremy, and Macie [ who also does not get readopted per my coin flip rules ].

Jeremy is going to get a healing roll from both healing storkies, so he just has to get a 6 on one of them to not lose a life.

And he didn't.

So now he gets to try his roll with Joy.

And he failed that roll, so he's losing a life.

Jeremy is going to get a healing roll from both healing storkies, so he just has to get a 6 on one of them to not lose a life.

And he didn't.

So now he gets to try his roll with Joy.

And he failed that roll, so he's losing a life.

Wisp has exactly one saving throw, and it's her mate, let's see if he can do it.
It's an 8!!! Ember coming in CLUTCH!

Unfortunately, because I only remembered the saving throw last minute, I already exalted her little sister Worry - but we will use this to our plotting advantage.

I also wrote it as led by Cloud and Murk, so let's just do some rolls to see if either of them will be remembered by time.

Lore

Cloud and Murk were discovered to have a plot against Wisp, outed by Ember. Unfortunately, part of that was watching them get rid of Worry, but Ember successfully protected his only kit with Wisp, before outing the duo in front of Wisp and the rest of the Kingdom.

No one was brave enough to stand up for them, and for good reason, and the duo was sent to brave the untamed brambles on their own.

Ember pulled Wisp and Ether close, hugging his family extra tight for several moments before promising them both that he wouldn't let anything ever befall them, and if he had to, he would ensure that their family was not only loved but revered.

For once, Wisp was okay with how intense Ember was.
