While the southernmost cliffs of the Windswept Plateau would be far from anyone's first choice when it comes to picking a place to settle, the Broken Compass has managed to thrive not only on, but in the cliffs as well.
Underneath the surface settlements lies a complex system of tunnels and dens, with over a hundred dragons residing underground. Those living in the very edge of the cliff have a view of the rough seas below, as well as a wooden terrace connected to a ladder system on the cliffside.
These ladders (and bridges) not only connect the terraces to each other and the top layer of the clan, but also lead down to the port, the Broken Compass' main form of income being trade, more specifically the trade of art and finery. Though the sea around cliffs is normally rough and dangerous, shining beacons in the water enchanted with Water and Wind magic alike help keep the waters calm and make sure travellers and merchants arriving by sea don't get lost.

They were the old remains of a clan, though which it was, exactly or what happened to them has remained unknown to this day.
From the bones of the old clan the Broken Compass arose: a haven for travellers and dragons seeking a new start. In the beginning the tunnels remained buried, but when the clan started growing much faster than either founder would've ever expected, they were dug out and expanded upon.
trade
The Compass trades with many clans located on Sornieth's lower hemisphere, not particularly picky about who receives their goods. Their main form of export is in the form of art, artisanal goods like tapestries and statues, though they also ship scholarly materials and the occasional artefact. In addition, they act as a middleman for trades spanning long distances, to give the couriers time to rest and help ensure the safety of goods.
There are a number of small gardens maintained by the Compass' residents and amongst the inhabitants are a number of skilled hunters and fishers, but for the most part the clan relies on trading with other clans and groups to keep up their food supply.

You instantly start apologising, trying to pick up your map which has since rolled away from you. The Fae grabs the map and hands it over to you, humour visible in the curling of his fins.
"Don't worry about it. Happens to the best of us." He pauses.
"Never seen you around before, though. Are you a tourist?" You nod a bit absent-mindedly, checking to see if your map got damaged. It's an old one, and on the delicate side, but to your relief nothing got torn. The Fae looks over your shoulder at the map, wings fluttering to reach high enough. "Fancy map. My brother's a cartographer, he'd be over the moon at the sight of stuff like that, but I don't really know much about it myself." You chuckle a bit, both enjoying the image of this stranger's brother swooning over it and unsure on how to continue the map-related small-talk.
Thankfully, he seems to pick up on the latter fact, and swiftly starts wrapping up the conversation. "I'm Pear, by the way. If you need any tips on the warmest spots in the clan or where you should go grab a snack, I'll be hanging around the square. There's a map of the clan on the board over there, if you need it." He waves as he walks off, and you finally go sit on the bench, opening the flyer you brought with.
It seems like there are a bunch of places you could visit from here, but where to first?

It seems like there are a bunch of places you could visit from here, but where to first?

dravite's workshop
watch your step
Inside of the caves under the main clan lies a small workshop. It's easy to miss; the entrance is covered with a simple, beige curtain. From inside the humming and rattling of various machinery, accompanied by a muffled conversation, can be heard. This is both the home and workplace of not only Dravite, but also of the many contraptions he's stumbled across over the years.
Current section notes:
dravite's workshop - can probably keep as it was before rework, maybe flesh out backstories further (and possibly add banter in between lore/descriptions? give it an informal feel)
maybe also add technology worldbuilding (i.e. progress, which parts of sornieth are more technologically advanced, do phones exist)
i do like this section i wrote from the old lore thread, but i'm not sure how to incorporate it into the style i'm doing now:
"Dravite is definitely not a professional, but that won't stop him from attempting to fix every machine he gets his hands on! (experience is the best teacher, after all) And as luck might have it, it turned out some of those machines are a bit more sentient than he first assumed.
And I mean, he can't kick them out! What if they break down in the middle of nowhere and there's no one around to help? What if they get lonely? What then, huh?"

graveyard - add description of location, why spirits hang out here, possibly add visitors/deceased members.
also add worldbuilding in form of traditions in regards to the death (burial in one location common for a number of breeds, imps are cremated/thrown into the ocean/buried in the middle of nowhere to prevent emperor formation, etc)
add necromancy worldbuilding either here, in bakery tab or add a new post detailing magic in general
