Far in one must walk, where the greening leaves of Spring and Summer begin to strangely shift to Autumn and Fall, hues of gold, red, and brown. Mosses seem touched with oranges and yellows that mingle in their green, verdant hues and underbrush seems gilded with gold. And as one walks within the [I]Atheneum[/i] forests, one begins to see tall, marbled pillars erupting from the forest, with a stone path broken and chipped with age; the pillars, though some stood tall, many were tipped over, fallen, and in disrepair, cracked or crumbling. It was almost sorrowful—forlorn even—by the way they stood out in the forest, but had nothing to support, and no one to help tend them any longer, like a world forgotten to all but the steady walk of Time pressing ever onward.[/font][/size][/color] [nextcol] [color=transparent]....[/color] [/columns] [columns] [right][font=cambria][size=6][color=#968d7d][b]V[/b][/font][/color][/size][font=cambria][size=4][color=#968d7d]ines of twining autumn hues, and brush the color of rusting metal had cracked what creamed stone remained in perhaps what was once a central square, the stones pulled apart as age settled like old bones. Now quiet, but for the rustling of the wind through trees, like an ancient song just waiting to be heard, there seemed a reverent hush across the land. What once must have been a grand and lofty place now was left for decay… That is until the far off sounds of music and laughter echoed out, and this was not the lofty reverent hums of time and wind, but it seemed the sound of feet tapping across old stones, or voices lifting and flitting against the echo of the air, harmonizing with the ancient tunes of old life. Further in one would step to see that perhaps decay and ruin had not claimed everything within the old [I]Atheneum[/i] ruins after all, and in an act of life and joy and rebirth the Great Queen of Light decreed a new place was built in the old: a hatchery, where the young could be born, could play, and dance, grow up with the dreams and ambitions of all other dragons of the [I]Atheneum[/i], or perhaps set their eyes to far off places read only in tomes by the Scholars; or maybe yet their eyes set skyward, to the Sun and Sky, where they may yet serve a place higher still. Regardless of the thoughts and dreams of the young, what is true is this: there is a place one can find, hidden deep within the ruins of the [I]Old Atheneum[/i], where the leaves are golden and rich, the tree bark of reds dark and earthy, and of bramble thickets teeming with new life even amidst the ever-changing breath of Autumn, that is full of new life ready and waiting to be explored.
