Lore outline:
oh woohee what can i say about zuri... this what i had jotted down before stopping;
born to a very prestigious family of pearlcatchers who were close worshippers to the lightweaver. they claimed to be able to see the future through each layer they add to their pearl, even bettering that of the water flight dragons, but this was ultimately a hoax; until zuri hatched
though the clan originally pulled off their hoax by telling smaller, abstract fortunes(or ones that happened in an unspecified date), zuri often told her mother about the dreams she had when she was lazing about in the sunlight, which were strangely rooted in mundane reality. zuri’s mother, deciding to take inspiration in this, began telling these dreams as fortunes to customers; only for almost all of them to come true
this invoked a new swarm of customers, intrigued by abilities that went beyond the many days it could take for a vision for the family line to come true
zuri’s abilities worked in that by dozing off in sunlight, she would have visions of the intermediate future. if she held an item that was a close relic of an individual dragon, she could have a specific dream of the future of that dragon
to pick up with the looser details; eventually the pearlcatcher was scouted for a very prestigious school in the sunbeam ruins, aere perennius academy, which places special emphasis on the magic of the lightweaver and looked to the sun as an ultimate "gift". they even believed the sun was capable of giving powers of foresight - something that turned out true for zuri. as a teen though she was the rebellious sort who always questioned what she was presented with and gave her teachers a lot of trouble, but her academics and abilities were so impressive that she still managed to become a high-ranking honor student and a master seer.
after graduating she went on a journey through sornieth in order to discover herself and learn more about the world. she ends up a companion in a seasick painter named
coel, and they eventually fall in love. at some point zuri is scouted by
storm who heard about her sun-based prophecy abilities and wished to have her join her up-and-coming flight council, alongside coel, and the two decided it's be a nice place to settle down and have a hatchling. said
hatchling is now an adult and part of a traveling merchant group while on her own journey for self-discovery. while coel worries for her, zuri is just peeved by how often she forgets to write.
zuri is currently mentoring
altes, a recent graduate of aere perennius academy who reached out to her in order to learn more and possibly become a "master seer" himself. the two often buck heads and altes is often a object of frustration to zuri, but only because she sees herself in him and wants him to become the best he can be.
in terms of personality, zuri is very much a sassy old woman. she's not above making accusations and saying how she sees it, but she's also quite kindly and tries her best to help people. she also tends to put on a "whimsical" personality in front of strangers to seem more mysterious and powerful than she really is. she values attention and occasionally works as a TA for the academy.
while this is a lot of fat, i'm hoping that with your assistance, it could be put more nicely into a bow and any holes in between could be filled. feel free to take artistic liberties, and ty in advance!!
