prologue | The Wayward Keep
She couldn't tell you exactly when it started. But during her childhood of being "help" at the Wayward Keep, she had a nickname, 'Clandestine.' Clandestine, meaning 'secret' was gifted to her by a close friend who watched her be a wingman to a number of budding romances. It often began with a confession.

Sucrose had always been approachable and unassuming, so much so that dragons would often confess their love to within earshot of her. It wasn't too much of an accomplishment she supposed, their lips were already loose from sweet ale and whiskey. Some of their stories were heart-wrenching, and their loveless woes palpable. And as a spirited and giving young lass, she knew she had to help. Whether it be hyping them up to approach their beloved, or offering to deliver them a letter... (She loved delivering letters, it always filled her with a sense of pride. Even if she never gets to see their reaction or its contents.)

She had a 65% success rate out of 27 instances of unrequited love!

She remembers waking up one day, to her younger brother, Sagitta, missing. And the most curious part? Neither of her parents were concerned.

"We honestly expected you to go first," Kazern chuckled over dinner, "It was his time to go it seemed... Venture off into a new world." Sucrose did not expect to feel so heartbroken, but she was. She had started a new job with the Balloonists, helping them ferry mail in between clans. Throughout the early days of her travels, she wonders where Sagitta could've gone without her...

He had always told her where he would be. Why didn't her parents look for him?

Sucrose's arrival in Snezhnaya could be considered uneventful, though it didn't take long before she was playing the part of wingman to a couple of dragons in that clan. It mattered little that they were different breeds, or in the case of one pair, the same gender, what mattered is what they felt for each other. While none of them knew of any dragon called, Sagitta, a few of them did promise to let her know if they did learn anything about her brother.
