The MAN-CAVE^{Hm. No personality or backstory? This dragon must be a living mystery. A big question mark. Never talks, never fights, possibly never breathes. He does move, though, so probably alive. Still, much mystery, very wow.

What is Arrowroot? We just don't know.}

The Purified Temple^{Arrowroot made a stop in the Sunbeam Ruins, and though he remained blank and stoic as always, he could tell that the other dragons were...certainly disconcerted by his presence. He would make his stay there brief, for sure.

"Just...what ARE you?" A small Fae, one of the clan leaders, finally worked up the nerve to ask him one day.

The Guardian remained expressionless as he tapped the name embroidered on his satchel. 'Arrowroot.'

Hollyfin tilted their head frills at this display, a look of Fae confusion as they read the name. "Arrowroot. Alright, so you have a name, at least. But that isn't what I asked...WHAT are you? You never talk, I've never seen you go to our travelers' lodgings to sleep...and even now, I can't even see your chest move! Do you even breathe, dude?"

Silence from the Guardian. The air felt heavy as the Fae's social awkwardness only grew. "Uh, look..." they continued uncomfortably, wringing their claws, "all I'm saying is your skin doesn't really look like skin, and your mouth has an uncanny amount of teeth compared to what it should have. Are you some kind of living statue? Or a shapeshifter? I'm not here to judge, I just want to know what's up with you. As clan leader, I have the right to know."

Arrowroot remained quiet. He wasn't one for answering questions, or really talking in general, after all. But the Fae's inquiry really did make him wonder, and he let his mind drift back to a different time, to a clearing in the woods, dense with fog and illuminated only by the enchanting, glowing foliage. A summoning ring drawn on the ground, lined with runestones and beginning to flicker to life with Arcane energy, until the whole clearing was alive with light. Finally, the summoned being -- the Guardian that would come only to be known as Arrowroot -- clawing himself forth from the summoning circle. By the time he emerged, the light had died down to wisps and his summoner was gone.

And now Arrowroot, whatever he was, was stuck trapped in this world, without a purpose and without a summoner to teach him anything about this new place. He didn't even know how to speak, certainly not how to act if he wanted to fit in. All these brimming thoughts, and all Arrowroot could manage was silence.

Finally, the Fae's frills slicked back in defeat. "Alright then. Have it your way, big guy," they sighed, and left him alone without another word. Arrowroot was gone the next morning.}

Crow Callers^{When Arrowroot arrived at Crow Callers, they somehow knew automatically that he was a traveler. They also knew that he may not be a normal dragon, but didn't think much of it.

Even after Arrowroot's long stay, nobody had any idea of what he could be -- but, whatever he was, AppleFuzz was smitten. A mysterious being and a somewhat arrogant fashion designer were an odd match, but regardless, they seemed to care a lot about each other. AppleFuzz won't fall in love with just anyone, so that had to mean that Arrowroot was special.

Interestingly, AppleFuzz claimed to have learned some things about Arrowroot, but she refuses to tell the rest of the clan. Maybe she learned that Arrowroot really can speak, but often chooses not to.}

Clan Kaishal^{It is not often that a dragon is able to slip past the Kaishal sentinels who roam the territory, but that is exactly what Arrowroot did. He showed up in the Lower Sanctum one day and, after the clan's initial shock at his sudden appearance, they took him to a safe area for him to rest and be questioned.

It was quickly determined that Arrowroot was not an active threat, but he was also not...normal. Desdemona, the warrior mage tasked with his interrogation, was loathe to use such a word, "normal," but it could not be helped in this case. Compared to all the strange and quirky dragons she had ever seen pass through the clan's borders, this maybe-Guardian was unique. The only thing she was able to discern was that he had not charge, so she surmised that he was on his quest to find his and left it at that.

Arrowroot got along fine with the other travelers for a while, but it was soon discovered that things went...missing around him. There was never any proof it was him, of course, and none of the items were ever found in his satchel, but when one dragon's precious pet bunny disappeared overnight, he was the primary suspect.

Arrowroot left without a word soon after.}
