Apparently even the Dragonhome Preservation Guild has caught wind of the ruins collapse, and Forrest and Stromer got sent here on behalf of the Lanternlea division. They're some kind of archeology/excavation rescue team-- they're here to salvage artifacts and to look for any dragons who were injured in the collapse or... worse. No one has been found yet.
Forrest says they'll find Mom soon. I think they're just trying to make me feel better. She seems nice enough otherwise, though. I find it hard to read her-- harder than other dragons, even-- but she's somehow easier to talk to than some of the other arrivals, and she takes her work seriously. After seeing that Pakua can help us navigate the tunnels under the ruins, she's started letting me follow her and Stromer on some of their expeditions. A lot of her work involves detecting and analyzing magical signatures in the rock and architecture, communicating their progress and findings to the clan members here and to the Dragonhome Lanternlea HQ, and getting permission from both to continue their work. I didn't know there was so much magic involved in archeology. Or bureaucracy. Anyway, we haven't found much yet (that they've told me about, at least), but. There have been tunnels, sections of wall, that-- for lack of a better word-- disorient (hurt?) Forrest. She's touched them, stumbled back a bit, tried to brush it off, but every time it happens, Stromer cuts the expedition short, Forrest disappears into her den for the day, and they both try to tell me that "maybe you shouldn't come on the next expedition with us." It never lasts, but I don't think they've ever visited those same tunnels again. Not when I'm around, at least. Fae are sensitive to ley lines, and I can tell they're changing.
