Biography
Aureole (Auri) she/they Generation II Bladesinger |
Role in Waterdeep: Master of Enterprise
Curious ever since she hatched, Aureole had a habit of exploring further than she was supposed to. The first few times, she was found and returned home safely, but one day she wandered too far into Waterdeep’s marketplace. Surrounded by strange new dragons and other creatures, Auri was soon completely lost. She ended up bumping into a strange yet caring fae, who offered her a place to stay until she was found. Aureole agreed, and the two of them set off for the visitor’s part of town. There, she began to explore once more, and she found a motherly bogsneak called Lovet, from the fae’s clan. Lovet took Aureole under her wing as her new apprentice in the art of creating stained-glass windows. As she had hatched a Bladesinger, Aureole had an exceptional magical talent that Lovet taught her how to wield. Auri possessed a unique ability to create crystalline shards with her magic, which she used to help her mother create windows. Her natural curiosity and charm assisted her with trying out new crafting techniques and spells, along with discovering other magic-using dragons. One of these magic-using dragons was Saeurella, a confident and handsome imperial. They’d met down in the marketplace that Aureole had once been lost in when Sae had been showing off some of his magical ice sculptures. Impressed by his craftsmanship, Auri asked him to teach her to use her own magic like that. After a few lessons, it became clear that they had a connection. Two curious wanderers with powerful magic who enjoyed sculpting; it was obvious that they were meant to know each other. One day Auri crafted Sae a set of Daybreak Decorations that matched hers, and he asked her out on a date shortly after. Aureole excitedly agreed, and their relationship grew from there. Auri eventually introduced her partner to Lovet, who was delighted that her daughter had found someone as talented as her. Lovet told her daughter that she was free to explore the rest of Waterdeep and beyond, and that the two of them would always be welcome back at Lovet’s shop. Grateful, Auri and Sae founded their own shop, and worked together to become Masters of Enterprise. They had a total of two nests together. Their seven hatchlings shared Auri’s natural curiosity and desire to explore Waterdeep, and neither Auri nor Sae made any move to confine their children; they would have never found each other if not for this curiosity. Many of their children found homes in faraway clans, and the two of them tried a stern but loving approach to raising the hatchlings who stayed at home. Hydrae, the older of the two, displayed a natural talent for potion-making, with a hint of charm and divination magic as well. Ae left to study at the Crestflame Academy, and later worked there as an adult. Icterus, the younger sibling, inherited Aureole's ability to make shards of light, and learned the art of smithing. He and his partner later inherited most of the family's business, though Auri and Sae still help out quite a bit. |
