-ABOUT-

Selenite was born not in the comfort of a nest or in the walls of a Clan, but in a flurry of darkness and screeches, waking up to feel the touch of the Shade as he crawled out with his pearl. Alongside his younger sibling Hex, Selenite met with his father Ambrose, who told them that they were experiments of the Shade and successors of the darkness. He didn’t exactly understand what this meant, but the young pearlcatcher’s monochromatic hide held shadows. He was raised primarily by his father and his close friend Hemerocallis but also met with his mother. A spotted Ice spiral by the name of Plum. She told him about all of the magic inside of him. How not only they were destined for loneliness, but also for their connection to the culinary arts and how they would be used as conduits.

Selenite was closer to his mother than his father, and she would feed him information contrary to Hemerocallis and Ambrose’s plans for magical dominance. He listened to her and kept this information a secret, but he found another escape. Comedy. Selenite loved the lifestyle of the jester, the fool. He would start acting playful and joke around to keep his confidence up and make sure that Ambrose did not suspect anything. After all, he wasn’t as strong as his father in the Shade, not a ‘True Gaian’ due to being a part of this splinter faction, and didn’t really have a normal life. All he had was his sibling and his smile.

As he grew up, Selenite started to learn that he was more connected to Arcane magic than to Shade magic, which came as a surprise to his father. The pearlcatcher knew that the way of darkness was not the path that he was going to walk on and as he quietly talked with Hex, he had his own idea of where to lead. He couldn’t fit in anywhere and was rejected by almost everyone. Nobody belongs in this world, especially not him. So he decided to push through and step away from Ambrose’s path.

-PERSONALITY-

Selenite is, to be frank, the polar opposite of his father Ambrose. Whereas Ambrose is calm, focused, and utterly serious. Selenite is playful, flighty, and loves to tell jokes. He not only dresses up like a jester but behaves in such a way that makes him come off as goofy and fun-loving. He is full of rampant cheer and can always be counted on to lift someone’s spirit. He is rarely seen without a smile and his pale pink eyes combined with his wild mane make him stand out from the crowd. He can make friends with almost anyone and even his enemies have a hard time hating him. An almost unnatural charisma emerges from him.

But life is hard when you have the Shade coursing through your veins. Selenite never really had a normal life before being thrown to practice his sinister magic. This treatment has caused Selenite to be highly insecure and secretive towards almost everyone that he comes across. He is full of self-loathing by the very fact that he is destined for loneliness and the influence of his mother has caused him to plot against his father. It’s not that he is particularly malicious, it’s just that he wants more in his life besides the darkness. Most notably, he just wants to be seen in a world that seems to despise him.

He copes through humor and through being as happy as physically possible. It is difficult for him to keep going in this world, but he does his best. When he is not feeling insecure, Selenite opens himself up through the utilization of his Arcane magic. While struggling in some aspects with the Shade, Selenite is skilled at utilizing his birth element. He can easily manipulate it and use it to create beautiful sights and magical performances. He aspires to have the greatest show he can and even if there are aspects he struggles with, he remains sociable and optimistic towards almost everyone he meets.

While Sash may have "ascended to meet her fate" according to her now-inactive owner, her bloodline continues to spread far and wide across Sornieth, carrying her legacy with them!
