Len loves food! The only problem is that food is different everywhere he goes, and he has to try everything! After eating his first food journal (unfortunately, not as good as the dishes described within), he's decided to start over as he goes out into the world.

Vinegaroon Salad

Equal parts roughly chopped vinegaroon and water lettuce. Garnish with nogglebane leaf beetles. For an extra tasty version, feed the beetles dusty marigold flowers before serving.

The perfect salad for new hatchlings to assemble, I remember doing that myself many a time when I was a bit too hungry to last until lunchtime (or snacktime).

Blackberry Wisp

Blackberry cordial sweetened with winterbelle syrup and served over fresh frost whispers.

The winterbelle syrup can be omitted if one isn't particularly fond of the richness. Although technically a spirit, it is so mild it can be served to fledglings. If we ever said it was too cold to play outside, Phantom would give us each a serving of this, so we had no excuses short of terrible weather. I always preferred letting it cool on the snow and then eating it like a stick of candy.

The perfect meal for an adventurous eater! Easy to assemble and prep, it's great for intense and complex flavors in a short amount of time. Fancy in a snap!

Sweetfruit Surprise has a couple different variations depending on what ingredients you have available. Some dishes choose to include ingredients like Aether Cherries, Sunbeam Figs, and others choose to accent it with Sandhills Amaranths. The surprise, however, is always the same, being Greenworms!

More of a dessert or a treat, it's still a sweet dish worth giving a shot! If you'd like to enjoy it without the Greenworms, you can usually request that they be set aside.

Plague Stew

Plague Stew can be made with just about any ingredients you have, but the consensus I get among most members of Crow Callers are these particular ingredients. That being said, I've received warnings that certain ingredients in this dish can potentially be poisonous for non-Plague dragons, especially if cooked improperly, so you may wish to substitute or leave out these ingredients.

Aodhaigh was the one who showed me some appropriate seafood substitutes for the Blue Ring Octopus. Apparently, Aodhaigh has an interest in cooking - her adopted sister Crayton told me that Aodhaigh is mostly just interested in cooking because she was in love with me, but honestly, I find that flattering.

I met another travelling dragon who likes to cook, named Calathea, during my stay. We became friends, and we even decided to show each other some of our recipes.

House-made Pumpkin Bread

One of the winter specials at The Lunch Car diner, this fluffy pumpkin bread is made with locally harvested pumpkins and amaranth, and free-range Basilisk eggs. It makes for an excellent treat, and it's a popular item around Rockbreaker's Ceremony for travelers and locals alike.

Each time I've visited a diner in my travels, they've tended to have wonderful food, and the Lunch Car was no exception. I stayed in Terrathorn's cozy motel during Rockbreaker's. There was all kinds of merrimaking — naturally, since it was Dragonhome's holiday — and after a concert on the surface by a local band, I ducked into the diner for a cup of coffee to relax. One of the servers recommended I enjoy it with a slice of their pumpkin bread, baked that morning. I'm really glad I took them up on it! The sweet spiciness paired excellently with my coffee, especially with a drizzle of honey.

Arpygo is a dish originating from Akasla, a mashed potato dish that must be prepared with the right amount of fresh tome cheese. It's these cheese pieces that, once well mixed, will give a stringy and elastic texture to the mashed potatoes. Don't forget to add a bit of garlic to the preparation for extra flavor (can be replaced with small pieces of truffles).

Arriving at the entrance of the Akasla native village, I quickly sought refuge in a lit building, which happened to be Mango and Koraa's Inn. It was pleasantly warm inside, filled with delightful scents wafting from the kitchens. I was served the renowned arpygo, and even had the chance to chat with other locals. Everyone seemed to know each other and some of them played a game with small pebbles that I had never heard of before. Who would have thought to find such a welcoming place in the middle of nowhere?
