Biography
That Unfold was magical became clear since they were little. Not because of their bright Arcane colors, but rather because of how they seemed to react to things that... were not there. Sometimes crying, sometimes laughing. They could just see those things. In a way, it shouldn't have been surprising that they had a gift for foresight, since both her parents were talented in divination. However, Unfold's natural magical talents were far beyond average. To them, seeing what is and what will be dance around them came so naturally that it was harder for them to focus on the here and now than on the would be. As a hatchling, their visions could blindside them. The images sprung up without warning, leaving Unfold reeling from them. They often needed someone nearby to ground them and pull them out of their own mind, reminding them of what the present was. For a while, the stress of their visions caused Unfold to become withdrawn. While they didn't dislike being taught about Gaoler traditions, it could also be hard for them, as thinking too much about the Shade would lead to terrible nightmares. They felt the most at ease spending town with their elder sibling Sanguine. Xe had always been good with hatchlings, and xir carefree attitude could pull Unfold out of whatever thoughts had caught them. They spent many days as a hatchling hanging out with their sibling, braiding xir fur. Braiding was a favorite of Unfold, as they discovered that focusing on the simple but repetitive process helped ground them. Growing, they gradually learnt how to better manage their visions. Being able to push them aside or ignore them helped make them grow out of their shell, turning into a more confident dragon than they had been as a hatchling. They never became a socialite, but they're more outgoing, and smiling more often than frowning. Part of the process was also learning how to handle their visions of the future and the anxiety they could bring. Visions of the present and of the past were in general accurate, but the future could be hard to predict. The overall events may be right, but the fine details wrong, or vice-versa. While the far future will always be hard to control, Unfold thought at least they may learn how to hone their skills for the near future. Being an Arcane dragon, studying stars came easily to them. Through the learning of astrology Unfold became able to mix their natural visions with the predictions coming from the sky, allowing them to better understand what would come to pass. They also turned to more types of precise work for when they need to ground themselves. Fur-styling has remained a passion of theirs, and their siblings will often sport fancy new braids thanks to her - Earthghost often receives in depth care because of her chronically messy fur, Sanguine will request any and all most fashionable styles, and their twin Permafrost gets stuck with whatever experiment crosses Unfold's mind. In addition, Unfold has taken up clockmaking as a hobby. It requires all of their attention, perfect to distract their mind from visions, and also allows them to have whatever custom astrological model they need. Unfold has also been able to predict the coming of many new additions to the clan. Before Rossestelle, Permafrost's mate, joined the clan, Unfold was noted to often be staring at Permafrost with intrigued or smug expressions. They also knew when Ametrine[/center] would show up, and went to welcome them. Most of the clan was wary of this strange, slimy Aberration that had crawled out of a tarn and didn't seem to have any clue how they had ended up in it, but Unfold was quite excited to meet them. Possible ghost or not, they knew Ametrine was someone to look forward to. And for sure, they and Ametrine grew extremely close. They're not mates in the traditional sense, but they also have a very strong platonic bond. Very often they'll spend their time together - but at a small distance. Unfold cares deeply for Ametrine, but slime in their fur is horrid to wash off. |
