Biography
Sanguine was the first child of Halloween and Allsee, and all other clan members doted upon him. He was a very charming hatchling too, always babbling and trying to be included in people's conversations. Quite the curious little thing, he had a tendency to go exploring without alerting any adults. It was a constant cause of worry for his parents, who had to divinate his location more than once. The fact he never got into serious trouble is pure luck. Especially because he never liked fighting and did his best to avoid it as much as he possibly could. What xe was always good at was music. Xe learnt to sing, and to play some instruments too. Quickly xe moved from singing along to hatchling lullabies to making xir own songs, with music accompanying them too. Besides xir musical inclinations, Sanguine also grew fond of hatchlings. Xe was glad to take on babysitting as soon as xe was old enough to do it. Hatchlings are so full of wonder and curiosity, and xe just finds them so very charming. As he approached adulthood, things became complicated with his parents. They both were quite devoted to the the ancestral Gaoler duties, not to mention taciturn and somewhat harsh dragons too. Sanguine was too light hearted for them to relate to him. And he in turn had no interest whatsoever in finding a role within the Gaoler cast system. Fighting, manual work, none of that is his thing. Even his parents' innate divination skills didn't pass down to him. Rather than going to look for the Icewarden, he much preferred to spend time with his childhood best friend Emerald or teach the youngest members of the clan about the best spots to search for berries. Xe is also a pretty charismatic dragon, and has managed to woo a good number of dragons through the years. Nothing lasting, however. It's not that xir doesn't care for xir partners, xe just isn't made for the mated life. Just because most relationship won't evolve into a permanent thing it doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed. Nowadays, Sanguine is quite taken by the Obelisk Inspire, although neither of them feel the need to make their relationship progress to something beyond casual dating. Nowadays, Sanguine's place within the clan is fairly well established as musician and babysitter. His parents have had to learnt to accept what they consider oddities, and agreed to let him live his life. Allsee took a long time to wrap her head around it, and there is still some chafing at times. Halloween, for his part, knows better than anyone else that sometimes one's birth circumstances won't dictate their future life. For his part, Sanguine fully agrees that someone has to keep Sornieth safe. He's just too busy wrangling the clan's hatchlings to bother with all of that. |
