Biography
Waterlily prefers plants to fish, befriends insects, and most of the time eats meat with her father, Alternifolia. She needs glasses to see anything further out than ten meters or so - which includes her own wingtips, when her wings are fully extended - and so she is not nearly the warrior her parents are. (Or that her clutchmates, Kelp and Watercress, who are currently serving the Lightweaver, are reputed to be, for that matter.)
Lumen, Cherenkov, and Waterlily went to visit Alternifolia's birth clan. Cherenkov had spent a few days there on his way to the Solar Solar, Alternifolia was of course Waterlily's father, and Lumen wanted to go with them. The Juniper Sky clan had since moved to the Behemoth, but it wasn't difficult to get directions. They stayed during the preparations for the Brightshine Jubilee, so that they could help the Nature clan celebrate the Light festival (and so that the Solar Solar had more room to host travelers on their way to the Lightweaver's service).
Waterlily loved being around lots of Imperials - she doesn't really get her father's insistence that none stay for more than a few weeks - and also loved hearing stories of her grandparents, Alternifolia's parents, who had gone to serve the Gladekeeper. (Though she was puzzled that the clan's attitude was that exaltation was a reward for a life of service, rather than something to aspire to in youth.)
She was very happy when Maxint came to stay with the Solar Solar; the triumph of convincing her father that a third Imperial could stay was exhilarating, of course, but Maxint's a good friend all on her own, and going on week-long expeditions 'to search for a scroll to change breed' are a great deal of fun.
Recently, she dreamed (hallucinated?) that she was wingless...
(art by the amazing CarmineCranes!)
Elsewhere, she has been mistaken for a tuber....

Insects she has befriended at the moment:
of her insectivorous friends, so she kept it; and the vibrant flutterers have been in the land claimed for foraging by the Solar Solar for decades, and Waterlily simply wouldn't let her clanmates eat them. The Empress Beetle, meanwhile, befriended her, and the Leafy Moth was the first insectoid familiar Awakened by any member of the Solar Solar.) |
