It was a cold, rainy night when the guardian deity of the Duskbreak Clan found Sombre, wandering aimlessly through the frigid downpour. His hair was drenched and matted, and the colors of his scales were dulled from spending so long wandering through the land. Brennen knew he was in poor health and potentially on the brink of death, and so she offered to take him in to her clan. Though he could hardly understand her in his exhausted state, he knew she wanted to help him, and weakly agreed. She gave him food and shelter, and those adept at healing within her lair- herself included- contributed to bringing him back to health.

With his natural beauty restored and his strength regained, he thanked her for her kindness, preparing to leave in search of a new home- but was surprised to be offered one within Duskbreak instead. He was hesitant to accept her offer at first- he found it difficult to accept that one would show such kindness to a stranger and expect nothing in return, and felt he would be seen as a burden to the clan. However, he accepted her offer, and after some time, finally began to settle within the clan.

Sombre was wary of his new clanmates at first, fearing they may be less welcoming than their leader. He quickly found this not to be the case, and was met only with open arms. Since then, he has befriended a handful of the members of his new clan, including the few other Veilspuns found within Duskbreak. He grew especially close to Chongsheng, another dragon whom Brennen had rescued and welcomed into her clan. Through them, he met Illyrian, a descendant from an Arcane flight who stumbled upon Duskbreak in search of a new life and home. They too became fast friends, and the three can often be found spending time together.

Some time after joining the clan, a new Veilspun joined, one who seemed similarly lost and confused among their ranks. Having felt the same way once before, he sympathized with her, taking it upon himself to make her feel welcome and at home. She was incredibly shy, and Naraka would speak only to him for quite some time. As a result, they both grew quite close, becoming mates. While he may never truly feel he deserves the life he's been given, he's chosen not to question fate and the new hand life has dealt for him.
