B I O G R A P H Y

______ Banefall isn't like her siblings. In fact, she's not like anyone in the entirety of Duskbreak at all. It's still a mystery to the rest of the clan- even to B herself- how Banefall is even able to have children with her mate, Illyrian- though B suspects it has something to do with the nature of her birth. You see, Banefall isn't really "alive." She's a zombie, by all intents and purposes- though you'd likely never realize it.

______ When Occia laid her nest, the egg containing Banefall came out wrong. It had tiny, dark red cracks all over it, and the usually translucent egg was a sickly, cloudy white inside. Her mother doubted that the egg would hatch, and with a heavy heart, she discarded it, fearing that whatever afflicted this egg might contaminate the other, healthy eggs. The egg was abandoned in the wasteland, but days later, near the same time the rest of the nest was to hatch, the egg... "hatched."

______ The damaged egg, having been left to the whims of Plague's wilds, eventually melted away into a sludgy mess beneath the tiny, unmoving body of the Skydancer within. She made no movement, no sign of life whatsoever... until slowly, her glazed, red eyes opened. She slowly picked herself up out of the slimy mess, an instinctive force driving her to slowly drag herself to the lair where her mother slept. Upon reaching the nest still containing her unhatched siblings, she climbed into it, where she simply... waited. She hadn't the slightest inclination that everything about her was wrong.

______ If Banefall was capable of speech- or even emotion, for that matter- she would likely describe the look on her mother's face when she checked the nest the next morning and found her among her siblings as comical. Occia was shocked to find an extra hatchling in the nest, staring blankly at her. Was it even staring? The hatchlings eyes were cloudy, like a dead fish- and it didn't seem to be breathing either. But then it blinked, as if awaiting something. To her astonishment, the egg she had discarded had... "survived," somehow.

______ Of course, to say that Banefall survived would be false- from the moment Occia laid her nest, Banefall was already dead. It was only her mother's decision to discard the egg into the Boneyard that saved her, in the end. The mother of Plague breathed "life" back into the egg, granting the child within a chance to experience existence. The only cost of this gift was that Banefall lacks much of what makes one feel alive- Banefall feels no emotion- including hunger- and is incapable of learning some things, such as speech. To Banefall, however, such limitations are trivial when compared to the gift of life.

______ For the longest time, Banefall simply spent her days existing as she pleased and helping out the clan whenever she was needed. Things changed when a newcomer- Illyrian, a descendent from an Arcane clan- moved to Duskbreak, however. Illyrian's greatest passion was discovering how life could flourish in inhospitable environments- and when he discovered Banefall, he was enraptured by her. Not only did she have a striking beauty in both her physical appearance and gentle nature, but she was also the pinnacle example of his passion. Though Banefall is not capable of feeling love, she must have some abstract notion of enjoyment being around him, as the two are now nearly inseparable.
