tumblr_nti067xMTN1repldoo8_400.png Personality and friends:
Chongsheng tends to keep to himself, but to those that he is close with, he is quite lively. He loves to garden, and is fascinated by the prospect of new life- something that quickly earned him the interest and friendship of Illyrian and Lyricen. He takes great interest in others who have been given a second chance at life, and often spends time conversing with Marrgan- though she is not the only one to have experienced death before that he has spoken to. As of late, however, the greater portion of his time is spent with Arcadia, who was there with him in the fire he died in- and who spent years searching for Chongsheng after the event.

Physique:
Having once been a Nocturne, it took Chongsheng quite some time to adapt to the much smaller body of a Veilspun. While he does not recall being a Nocturne, his body has never felt quite like it truly belongs to him. Despite his smaller stature, he is still quite strong, though he would never use his strength to harm another living creature.

Likes:
Gardening, reading, flowers, birds, nighttime
Dislikes:
Fire
Lore:
Chongsheng bears very little resemblance to the dragon he once was. Everything about him has changed, even his name- though he remembers not what his original name was. Much of his memory of life before the fire that claimed it is gone, and what little he does remember is foggy. The only things he remembers clearly is the roaring flames that surrounded him until the end, and awaking to find an unfamiliar being before him. He'd never seen something quite like her before- and the air about her told him he was in the presence of someone much more powerful than a god.

She had smiled softly at him, and her voice was gentle- though it felt as if it came from all around him in the strange, misty void he found himself in.

"Don't be afraid. I'm not here to hurt you."

He tried to stand, but he didn't have the strength. It felt like he would simply fade away at any moment. The only thing keeping him grounded was the thought of the Veilspun that had tried so hard to save him- and the hope that they were okay- but even that was fading fast. He had so many things he wanted to ask, but it felt as though the words were running from his grasp, like he'd forgotten how to speak at all.

She clearly sensed his distress though, and approached him slowly, kneeling down before him and placing her small hand on his. A light brighter than that which surrounded them in the strange, misty void rippled along the patterns adorning the being's body, and as he stared at them, he felt a strange sensation, as though the mere action of looking at her was enough to prevent the fate he knew loomed over him.

"It's all right. You needn't speak. I know you're scared and confused, but you're safe with me here. Someone must care very deeply for you to have managed to summon me here. I know you don't want this to be the end. Whoever called for me doesn't want that either."

Her expression changed, growing perplexed.

"Though... I've never seen a soul fade away so quickly before. Perhaps it is a matter of your origin... I do not know that I will be able to restore you to your original state... or return to you the memories you've already lost. As long as that is okay with you, I can still bring you back from the brink of death."

It took everything he had, but he gave her a slight nod. As soon as he did, he felt her other hand on his claw, and the world suddenly went white. The last thing he remembered before losing consciousness again was the image of that Veilspun- before that faded away too.

When he awoke once more, he found himself amid a pile of rubble, a dragging sound coming from above. What had happened...? He could remember little of the events that had just transpired, his mind foggy. The only thing he recalled were flames engulfing him, and then a woman's voice... He tried to lift his head, to move at all, but he was trapped. Someone was trying to free him, though, and soon he felt the charred timber and rubble being pulled off of him. He lifted his head, wondering who could have rescued him.

"Ah, good. You're awake- and you seem unharmed."

Her hair shimmered as she tossed away the last piece of rubble that kept him pinned down. He was finally able to get a good look at his rescuer as she helped him up. It was a Skydancer, her body adorned with glowing runes over the blue galaxies that covered her. The way her scales reflected the light was like looking at a prism- and for some reason, she felt familiar.

"I know you're probably confused, but I promise that you're safe now. Why don't we return to my clan- you can rest there, and ask me anything you want to know. Before we go, though..."

She tilted her head, gesturing to him.

"You may want to get accustomed to your new body a bit. It's interesting that you took on that form, but I suppose it makes sense..."

His body was no longer that of a Nocturne's- not that he completely remembered that was what he had been before. He simply knew something felt different about the form he inhabited. Instead, he had become a Veilspun, his body a color much alike the ash he stood from. Flowering branches had sprouted from his horns, a fitting symbol for the gift of new life he knew he'd somehow been given.

"Do you at least remember your name?"

The Skydancer asked. She received only a perplexed, blank look in response, though.

"I see... in that case... how about 'Chongsheng'? It means 'rebirth.' A beautiful name, and fitting too."

He simply nodded in agreement. Everything was so strange, it all felt like a dream- and it didn't help that he had the striking feeling that he'd met this dragon before, though he remembered nothing. As they departed from the ruins, he looked back, as though there was something he was forgetting- but there was nothing but rubble and charred remains left.
