Biography
Selachi, youngest of his clutch, has always wanted to be normal. His doting mother Eve treated all her hatchlings like normal children, but Selachi's emotions kept track of every single way that Eve kept them separate from the other children. No wandering too far from home, no magic practice where people could see, never go into the woods, and most importantly of all: no playing with the other whelps.
Eve's rules infuriated Selachi. He grew bored of playing with his siblings, and yearned to integrate himself in the community around them. One day, whilst at the market picking up groceries, Selachi was invited to a bonfire being held just outside of town that evening. When the sun began to set, Selachi snuck out his window and went to the bonfire.
At the bonfire, Selachi reveled in being able to interact with his peers for the first time without his mother keeping watch nearby. As the sun set and the light dimmed, the fire seemed to only glow brighter and brighter against the dark backdrop of the woods, and the other dragons began noticing something was off about Selachi. His grin just a touch too large, his claws inky black and hard like steel, his movements too thoughtful to be anything but predatory. When Selachi mistook one of the partiers for a bear, the situation tipped from uncomfortable to dangerous in seconds.
Selachi didn't mean to hurt them, but his claws could pierce hide just as easily as they could peel an apple for sharing amongst friends. Once he began, he found he couldn't stop, driven by some primal instinct inside of him that demanded freedom after a lifetime of being restrained. He was driven off, licking his wounds and nursing the memory of another dragon's fear.
He left town, knowing he could never return home. What would his mother think of him? What would his siblings think of him? Eve was right, he needs to stay far, far away from other dragons. Perhaps he'll find a place accepting of a hermit with no past.
