Ming Ye

"I keep thinking of that bamboo forest. If I could choose, I really hope that I can stay with you in that cottage in the bamboo forest."

Ming Ye was born to two Imperials living in the Shifting Expanse. At a young age, he was very quiet and reserved, preferring to be alone rather in the company of others. This serious attitude created separation between him and his cohorts. Interested in bettering himself, much of his time was spent in quiet contemplation. As he grew, he moved away from his clan, making his way through Sorneith. While he would occasionally settle down with clans, he would still eventually move on. Older than many of the younger dragons surrounding him, Ming Ye had decided that he was simply not destined for love when he came across a young imperial.

Sang Jiu was unlike anyone he had ever met. Her warm, bubbly personality and naïve approach to the world around her caught his attention. He began spending more and more time with her, the two training together in the clan training grounds. Ming Ye's talents quickly caught Ajuga's eyes and he was rapidly promoted to the rank of night, helping to train other young fighters.

Ming Ye continued to train younger dragons in the art of war with a cool calmness that gave his movements an almost ethereal quality. His favorite days were those when Sang Jiu would join in, often taking time to privately tutor her with the sword. Without him immediately noticing it, his world began to revolve around her to the point where her absence would make him worry, distracting him from his tasks and eventually resulting in him searching for her. Luckily, she could often be found in the clan's gardens, where she would offer him the fruits of her labor.

"The thought of devilizing shouldn't be my choice. I'll always be the God of War loved by Sang Jiu."

One day Sang Jiu approached him, requesting his hand in marriage. Surprised, Ming Ye managed an acknowledgement of her request, although he was certain it wasn't the response she had been hoping for. After their marriage, he quickly came to realize that he was maybe not the best husband that he could be. Used to being alone, he now had someone else in his life.

Wanting to provide for his new bride, Ming Ye made a small house for them out in the woods, away from the rest of the clan and near the water's edge where Sang Jiu could visit her family more readily. To celebrate their new homecoming, he planted an apple tree that he'd uprooted from the clan's orchard next to the door, much to Sang Jiu's delight. She often gives him an apple when he leaves and Ming Ye carries one with him whenever he has to go far from the clan's grounds.

Ming Ye tends to come across as cool and aloof to those who do not know him when in reality he cherishes his bonds with those few he counts as true friends and comrades. He and Link often spend time together as both are good at teaching new recruits. While he makes mistakes sometimes, especially in his relationship with Sang Jiu, Ming Ye does everything in his power to make up for them when he realizes what he's done.
Above all, he loves for and cherishes Sang Jiu and will not let any harm come to her.
