Biography
Ajuga
Founder/Head Knight
Ajuga mostly cares abut mastering fighting so he can protect himself and his clan. As such, he is happy to train any who desire to learn, although he has little patience for ineptitude and pacifism. Ajuga's firm belief is that only the strong can survive and as such has taken it upon himself to ensure that the clan is strong. While he mostly keeps to himself, Ajuga does enjoy Clemantis's company on occasion. He was named godfather to all of Orchidae and Aodh's children due to his once close relationship with his co-founder. As such, he trained Zelda in the art of weaponry so she would be able to defend herself, at least until help could arrive. When Link began courting the female guardian, Ajuga would offer him advice on occasion but wasn't entirely certain that Link was good enough for his goddaughter. Since their engagement he has admitted that Link is indeed a strong warrior and would likely make a good leader and has named him as one of his seconds alongside Clematis. He still tends to avoid the other outside of training, though.
" Protect those who protect you" When Ajuga first emerged from his egg, his first thoughts were food, water, and shelter. After drinking from a nearby stream and gorging himself on some nearby mice he finally began to really take note of his surroundings. There was a young guardian not too far away, sitting and staring up at the sky. Moving to join her, Ajuga listened as she talked on and on about light, shade, fireflies, and stars. Not really paying any attention to most of that, he was soon agreeing to accompany her on what seemed to be a self-imposed quest as she journeyed from clan to clan. After their initial voyage almost resulted in them being killed by members of a marauding beastclan tribe, though, he was moved by how they were saved by warriors from a nearby clan. Vowing to never be defenseless again he was soon learning the skills of a warrior from every group they passed, travelling from clan to clan with Orchidae. Eventually, when his companion finally chose a spot to settle down, Ajuga began working on designing his own style of fighting as he chose bits and pieces of what he had learned to incorporate into it. As the clan grew, though, he quickly realized that he alone would not be enough to protect his growing family, whereupon he began training new fighters to join the cause. |

As he stuck at the training dummy again and again, Ajuga mentally evaluated his attacks. That last hit was too soft; he'd never hit an opponent with enough force from that angle to defeat them in battle. Frowning, he shifted to come at the attack from a different angle, nodding to himself. There. That had landed more solidly.
Hearing a sound behind him, Ajuga didn't turn around, instead continuing to spar. He recognized those sounds; his god-daughter was no fighter, even if she was light enough on her feet to be good at it. She had never shown an interest and Ajuga had no intention of teaching her the close-combat fighting style he preferred. Let Link continue to teach her some archery on the side; it would help her defend herself while keeping her out of the thick of things. It was a strange dichotomy that the warrior felt; the desire to ensure that Zelda could protect herself warring with his urge to protect her and keep her safe. He was proud of her strength, though. Her skill with magic was impressive even to a fighter like him who knew nothing about such things.
"What do you want, cria?" He didn't look at her as he spoke, continuing to strike the dummy.
"I heard you and Link were talking." She commented and he could hear disproval in her voice. So like her mother in that regard.
"Yes. I was welcoming him to the knights. He held up well." Ajuga commented, grinning as he finally turned around.
"He was injured!" Zelda's disproval was evident on her features. "Besides which, he is allowed to ask for my hand. There is no reason why he should not be allowed to ask for my hand!" Her cheeks were pink, whether from embarrassment or emotion it was hard to tell.
"Come now, cria. What kind of godfather would I be if I didn't test your fiancé? Besides, if I hadn't done so what do you think your father would have done?"
Her mouth made a small 'o'. "... Still. If you must talk, please do not injure him."
"It's training. Wounds happen. Better that I injure him now in a practice bout than for him to gain more serious wounds on the battlefield." Ajuga pointed out, the other looking understanding, if not fully accepting of that wisdom. "Don't worry; I will try to leave his face untouched for you to look at." He grinned over at her. "Maybe I'll even leave other parts-"
"Thank you for your time." The young dragon beat a quick retreat, cheeks hot enough to cook eggs on. Ajuga grinned to himself as he turned back to his training.
Quote:
Ajuga is equally as stylish as he is a remarkable fighter! I adore how the coal skink matches the ivory wings, and that it is both complemented and segmented by the white contour. The burnished armor matches his colors quite well, with the tarnished armor bringing out the cooler greys from the ivory spinner. Lyko
