Ye Xiwu was born into a clan in the Lightweaver's Domain. As a young hatchling, she was full of light and life, often helping the others in her clan out with whatever tasks they needed. As she grew, her father sent her to his home flight to learn how to fight against the shade. She bid her family goodbye and headed out, training with the dragons in the Southern Icefields to learn how to fight the shade. When she returned home, it was to find her family gone, destroyed by a Shade touched creature in her absence. Although the treasure left to her would have let her rest comfortably for many years, anger drove her to use her powers to avenge her family. Although using her powers to destroy the shade-touched creatures she comes across causes physical pain, shortening her life, Ye Xiwu is committed to her mission: destroying all Shade-touched individuals. After tracking a shade-touched dragon to the vicinity of the Hotaru Clan before losing his trail in the grounds around the clan, Ye Xiwu befriended Tsuki, the younger gaoler and her mate happy to share their den with the light dragon. Helping Tsuki with some of her tasks, Ye Xiwu travelled away from the clan again to continue her mission before one day happening to return just in time to run across the clan's new military tactician. As soon as her eyes lay on him, she could sense the power of the Shade hanging over him, hatred rising up. Unlike most of the other Shade-touched dragons she had come across, though, Tantai Jin had managed to integrate into the clan to a degree that even Tsuki couldn't arrest him easily. Ye Xiwu studied him carefully, determining that he had a deeper connection with the Shade than a regular dragon, meaning he must have been corrupted prior to hatching. She began to work hard to get closer to him, needing him to trust her so that she could lead him away from the clan to safely take care of him. While initially focused on her mission, Ye Xiwu began to slowly notice all of the small behaviors he would do around her. The sighed smiles, the forehead rubbing, the way he would always eat what she brought him, no matter how inedible. She began to spend more time learning how to cook from Mikan, finding herself missing Tantai Jin when he wasn't by her side. Still, as she began to sense the Shade's power growing in him, she resigned herself to her mission with a heavy heart. She spent more time in the library, searching for another path. In the end, it was Blueberry who set her on the right path with a cryptic statement. On the appointed day, Ye Xiwu invited Tantai Jin out on a walk with her. Leading him away from the clan, she turned to face him once they were outside, kissing him before using her magic to pull the shade from his chest, replacing it with her magic to prevent it from tightening its grip. The look of betrayal on the other dragon's face was agony, especially as she never planned to survive their encounter. As the world faded around her, power spent, Ye Xiwu wished that Tantai Jin would be able to live a long life with someone who could love him. She didn't know how much time passed before she opened her eyes again, blinking up at the ceiling above her. A hand in hers tightened and she slowly turned her head to the side, weakness making even that simple motion almost enough to cause her to pass out. Tantai Jin's purple gaze met her golden one, love filling his stare and she felt tears well up. They'd survived. | . |
