Biography
Poule
Poule is a doctor…Sort of. Not really. And certainly not anymore. You see, despite once referring to himself as a doctor and asking others to refer to him as Dr. Poule, he has no credentials nor training as a doctor. However, what he does have is a certain gift for receiving visions of the future. Poule has gotten this far in life with his doctor impersonation by pretending to delegate over a diagnosis and “going to consult the books”, but actually slinking off to a back room to give himself a vision of the future. He would receive a vision of his future self curing the ailment, take notes, and cure the ailment how his future self did, thus creating a self-fulfilling prophecy and a stable loop.
But when the Tidelord disappeared, Poule lost this ability. He could no longer see the future and learn from his future self. The notes he had taken only applied to certain conditions and only worked for so long, and his former clan learned the truth and turned against him. Poule was forced to flee, and he made his way to the driest place he could think of, the exact opposite of the Sea of a Thousand Currents: the Shifting Expanse. Here, he found Electrician’s Edge, and encountered the Clan of the Striking Bolt.
Poule saw how many other healers of several varieties were already established clan members, and knew his fraud would never work here. He was forced to admit his crimes — his unique application of his talent, his false claims of being a doctor, losing his power along with his god, and being chased out of his home clan.
Well, his newfound clan members were no strangers to exciting backgrounds, and to Poule’s surprise, he was welcomed with open wings. They were thankful for his honesty, and that he hadn’t tried to fool them like he had his past clanmates. But most importantly, they saw what his previous clan hadn’t: Poule may not be an actual doctor with credentials and training, but he did find a unique way to treat his clanmates in need, and his treatments had worked out in the end. He may not be a “real” doctor, but he was a real healer. He just found his own way about it.
Nowadays, since Poule has vowed never to lie to his clanmates about his healing abilities again, and finding himself without the powers that brought him success in the first place, he has found himself searching for a new meaning in life. Without his god or his visions to guide him, he feels lost. Poule has decided to make things right, and is currently pursuing a path to attending a medical school in the Starfall Isles and becoming a real doctor, to help his new clanmates in a genuine way and to make up for his past fraud. After all, he only vowed to never lie about his healing abilities again — and it won’t be a lie once his abilities become genuine.
