Biography
Tupelo he/him Generation IV Moon Dancer |
Role in Waterdeep: Shadow Guild
Tupelo never really received an opportunity to know his other parent, Hydrae. Shortly after he and his siblings hatched, Hydrae gave them to aer partner, Turquoise, and never returned. Turquoise decided to train Tupelo in the ways of gardening and botany, so he could be part of the family’s tea shop when he grew up. He grew up surrounded by flowers and plants of all species imaginable and learned how to use them in medicines, foods, and poisons. His Avariel powers started to develop during this time as well, manifesting in an ability to control plants, but only during the nighttime. Because Turquoise had no magic of his own, Tupelo was sent away to Crestflame Academy to train. However, this quickly ended in disaster when Tupelo ended up in Hydrae’s potions class, and they were completely uninterested in aer own child. Worse, Tupelo learned that he had younger siblings, whom Hydrae had kept as her personal students. Feeling betrayed and abandoned, Tupelo fled from Crestflame, and vowed to never return. Tupelo explained what had happened to Turquoise, who decided to find Tupelo a different potions teacher, and homeschool him for the time being, making an effort to spend more time with his son, to try and make up for Hydrae’s absence. A few days later, a young Wildclaw showed up at the tea shop, looking for Tupelo. She introduced herself as Eucalyptus, a fellow student at Crestflame. She specialized in communicating with animals, particularly sea creatures, and her gifts were thanks to a magic pendant she’d received from an unknown sponsor. She’d been impressed by Tupelo’s potions skills, and offered to teach him some of her magic, in exchange for learning some of his. He agreed, and soon they were meeting weekly. Their relationship would later turn romantic, and they would be married as adults. As an adult, Tupelo soon ended up working in his fathers tea shop, using his potions skills to run a marketplace stall on the side. It was at this side shop that a masked figure named Eltanin approached him. Xe revealed xemself as Tupelo’s older sibling, but they weren’t here to brag about xer abilities or past. They were here with an offer: joining the Shadow Guild. In the Guild, Tupelo’s talents in poisons could be put to use, and he could have the opportunity for revenge at the dragon who’d abandoned him, Hydrae. He could keep both of his current jobs, and his mate and children would have some extra protection. He accepted the offer, and never looked back. |
