Empire of Death: Order of Bone

A hatchling born one of many to her parents. Menno was different than her siblings and often experienced horrible visions early on in her life. The worst times seemed to correspond with the moon being at its fullest while new moons could usually allow her some form of rest. At first, these were thought to be an overactive imagination. But when her visions warning of her sister's death turned into reality they were immediately taken to be more serious than that. Menno's parents sought far and wide for dragons who might be able to help her control the power. But Sornieth is large and full of many dragons. Even Water's natural seers weren't familiar with the strange connection to the moon to fuel visions instead of their deity's element.

And so Menno continued to suffer for years as she grew up. Some of the visions were of peaceful passing's: an elderly clan member going to sleep and never waking up, or an egg that simply would never hatch. But others were dark and violent. Ones that no hatchling or young dragon should never hope to see. Sometimes they'd even hold strangers she had no recollection of meeting nor would she ever come across. Healers were brought in with the hopes that their spell or medicines could at least ease up on the visions she'd see. But it was to no avail. No answer could be said as to why all of them seemed to revolve around the subject of death either. Menno was certain she'd somehow been cursed.

When she was old enough, Menno left the clan in search of her own answers. For a while, no answers came but she would find love in her journeys. She'd take several mates throughout her travels and like her parents, had many nests with each of them. But the love and joy of having a growing family was constantly overshadowed by the visions that plagued her. Each of their deaths flashed through her mind and, unable to see how to prevent them, each one came to pass. Sometimes the deaths came quickly after and sometimes it took years. But each one ate at her and Menno often would wail into the dark of the night over the losses that were to come.

Finally, she would come across a pair of Moon Oracles who would hear of her plight. The skydancers let her join their family for a while in their travels as they explained that the fae was in fact a Moon Prophet. A death seer specifically. It was with their help that she learned to hold more control over the visions. With their mentoring, Menno was finally able to see visions when she wanted to see them and not at random—usually. When she parted ways with the pair, they suggested Menno head to their home in the Empire of Death and off she went. Upon arriving and explaining the situation with a letter from her Moon Oracle friends, Menno was granted the rank of seer for the Order of Bone. While the bleak visions still disturb her, the control and now purpose behind using her powers has given her a somewhat brighter outlook for the future. One day, she swears she'll learn how to prevent the deaths she sees as well.
